This is what I try to always tell people: food banks can do way more with your money than you can, due to bulk buying deals. And they can do way, way more with your money than with the canned goods you didn’t want to eat
spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

I can't prove it but I think the rats have set up a jacuzzi in the attic. It's the only logical explanation for the noises I keep hearing.

Extremists depend on your outrage to spread their memes far and wide. Whether it's Musk or Musk's chatbot, the same lesson applies.

Stop posting grok conversation screenshots unless you have the depth and you plan to take time to place it in a context beyond "omg look what the nazi chatbot said"
Let's talk about how to report on right-wingers without amplifying their hateful rhetoric. Far-right extremists count on YOU to spread their messages for them. Here's a thread of resources.

So the full title is COLOR TASTE TEXTURE: Recipes for Picky Eaters, Those with Food Aversion, and Anyone Who’s Ever Cringed at Food. I know that “picky eaters” is a loaded term, the sole purpose of it in the title is so it can be found by the most people. It’s used sparingly within the book itself.
I’m an Autistic classically trained chef and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide titled COLOR TASTE TEXTURE, that’s all about finding out what works for specific sensory needs and how to customize food for them. It’s useful for all ages, no cooking experience necessary.
Color Taste Texture by Matthew Broberg-Moffitt: 9780593538593 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books
An accessible family cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, and picky eater, with 46 recipes. This much-needed cookbook combines tips and techniques.....

New: I did a super quick audio update—a 'Breaking Basket'—about how SNAP recipients are feeling about Dems helping to reopen the government, and the lawsuit from states' AGs to protect their benefits.

Not ICE. Border Patrol. They’re wearing Border Patrol uniforms with clear Border Patrol patches on them.

There are many videos of ICE officers doing outrageous stuff but a lot of the absolute worst videos are of Border Patrol, who are basically Bovino and Miller’s most aggressive tool right now.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

A bit of transparency into the impossible nature of trust & safety at scale. I hope people will recognize that one reason why other platforms never talk about this stuff is it often leads to people yelling at the trust & safety team. But this kind of transparency is good and useful.
Hopefully I've done this correctly in terms of the leaflet setup this time. Here's a first post in a series on T&S on Bluesky.

Internet: Would you like to feel righteous indignation about something?

Me: No, I think I'm done for the day. I'm actually kinda sad and burned out and I have work tomorrow...

Internet: Look at this.

Me: ... Okay.

New — While some states have received SNAP benefits for November and USDA is supposedly pushing through all federal payments soon, that doesn’t erase the psychological terror of the last few weeks.

I spoke with 20+ SNAP recipients in 16 states about preparing for a possible future with no food:
The voices of SNAP
Recipients have become political pawns. They explained, in their own words, what Trump withholding funds has been like.

Today a customer's baby realized he could hear himself being repeated through the baby monitor in the nearby kitchen once his bedroom door was opened. For about twenty minutes he sang to himself and told what I can only assume were age-appropriate jokes in baby language. Made my day.

So please, please believe me when say you cannot turn this interview request into anything good, it will do only harm. Harm to you, harm to your child, harm to other children.
heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

"It's life, Jim..." Well, actually not! It's WAY too hot.. 🥵

But we can finally see an alien planet... 👽

JWST just created the FIRST-EVER 3D map of an alien atmosphere. It's a 2,760°C (nearly 5,000°F) inferno that literally tears water molecules apart.

This is a new era of exploration 🔭🤖🚀😁
