There may be some niche examples somewhere, but I cannot think of any system, natural or human-made, that isn't strengthened by more diversity. Ecology, biology, economics, politics, agriculture... am I missing anything?
This lesson is reflected everywhere and in everything.

hey it just occurred to me that maybe young women today tend to be more progressive than young men because while girls were reading American Girl books, boys were playing age-inappropriate video games
This is fascinating. I’m a historian and have been in conversations about when children should be exposed to the dark parts of our history…I guess American Girl has been doing it all along.

I actually find great meaning every day by performing a job that Junior Varsity Bedbug is not smart enough to do
JD Vance: "To our fellow Americans we say, you're never gonna find great meaning in a cubicle or in front of a computer screen. But you will find great meaning if you dedicate yourself to the creation and sustenance of human life."

Think about how although Pretti was a gunowner, when he saw someone being attacked his first response wasn't to use the gun but to help them up and ask them if they're ok.

It wasn't even on his mind that a gun would be useful.

Compare that to the paranoia of rightwing gun culture.

rightwingers see people caring about others in their community and instead of finding that inspiring they think it’s some sort of grand conspiracy because they don’t understand what it means to care for others you don’t personally know

I spent the last year writing a book about the ridiculous demands of what it means to be masculine. But a guy who takes care of people who served our country, asks a woman “are you ok?” When she is in distress and looks out for his vulnerable neighbors seems like a pretty good role model for a man.

don't forget that you can also use cron in this way to troll the Mac users in your life, if they deserve it
Windows users don't know the magic of cronjobs, which allow you to play Smashmouth's All Star once an hour. That is what Linux on the desktop promises.

"pretto/pretti" is Italian for "pure," for those who are unaware
The two people murdered by ICE have the last names Good and Pretti.

It... really doesn't get more on the nose who the bad guys are, does it?

This business of having masked & heavily armed federal LE needed to be the Rubicon.

It's incompatible with a free society. Incompatible with a Constitutional democracy.

They want women to have to marry an ICE agent to achieve economic security and then drop out of the labor force and bear lots of children. And then get so busy with childrearing that they have no time to vote.

Firing and demoralizing feminized jobs as enemies of the state while brazenly bribing men with violent jobs that almost instantly puts them into the middle of middle class is very basic gendered warfare. Fulfilling the manosphere’s promise.
It is insane to me that the government can find money to pay ICE agents increasingly larger sums of money, yet teachers have to buy their own pencils.

the calcium episode lives rent-free in my head, I think about it at least once every other day
I've been leaning towards Tubi being the streaming service, and now I think it's official: they have Season 1 and Season 2 of one of the best science and technology comedy shows ever made… "Look Around You".

Thanks, Tubi. Thubi.

Look Around You
This unique combination of parody and homage to early 70s/80s British educational programs examines different scientific topics in each episode.
