The real-life impact of Trump and Musk’s freeze on USAID

Drugs and food, intended for global aid, instead languished and rotted in warehouses — and some children withered and died.

Sweeping, damning investigation by my @washingtonpost.com colleagues.

USAID antimalarial and HIV supplies valued at nearly $140 million were delayed in the first half of the year or not delivered at all due to the Trump administration’s foreign aid pause, The Post found...

Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins slams the Trump admin’s NIH cuts as “poorly conceived” and says she has called RFK to “to express my strong opposition to these arbitrary cuts in funding for vital research.” She says he promised to “re-examine this initiative” if confirmed as HHS secretary.

This goes well beyond our ability to do research, which will be extremely limited. This affects the fundamental functioning of medical schools (and I am guessing they will do the same for NSF so it will affect higher ed too)

NSF has a congressional mandate to consider underrepresented groups in their funding processes. They are choosing to obey an executive order rather than an actual law that has been on the books since 1997. Shameful.
