In 6 weeks, Minister O'Brien has fast-tracked LNG infrastructure, lifted the moratorium on data centres and the Dublin Airport passenger cap. All under the banner of 'strategic infrastructure'.

Irresponsible moves that lock us into climate havoc and US dependency.

Using hydrogen as a fuel to replace natural gas has been strongly promoted by vested interest groups.

Many including myself raised serious concerns about scalability, cost and efficiency.

The more time passes, the more it looks like those concerns were well-founded.

“I find that, in 2019, the bottom 50% of the world population emitted 12% of global emissions, whereas the top 10% emitted 48% of the total.”

It is not enough to question the GDP obsession; we also need to discuss how pollution and wealth are connected.

...it means you start with a bit of momentum the next time you sit down with that work, you also get more time to think about the next, next step.

If starting a new bit of work is hard for you #procrastination this works well for me & maybe it could work for you.

Perhaps the best bit of advice I ever got on writing but also on researching/analysis was from the book below ⬇️

It goes like this--you should always finish the day knowing the start of the next step, when you have articulated the next thing you are to write or to do, ...

Only one quam, as a scientist, I would argue that they don’t know much about science either. They know a bit about some very specific areas and a lot of that seems qualified by science-fiction. Thanks for writing this!

This excellent piece offers the strength and inspiration I needed today: "In this oligarchic dystopia, it is an act of defiance just to insist upon maintaining your own cognitive faculties. Regularly exercising your own creativity, ingenuity and mental effort is a small but meaningful rebellion."

When Extinction Rebellion peacefully protested at the gates of Leinster House, they were swiftly removed by a phalanx of Gardai and arrested.
Yet when IFA members have occupied Bord Bia HQ or Agriculture House, the state’s response has been far more accomodating.

C'mon folks, only 721 people to go and we've passed the Irish threshold. If you haven't signed this already, why not?

It's an important EU citizen led initiative that needs 7 countries to pass their threshold, and then the EU government machine is forced to talk about it.

I’m having a hard time thinking of an interview between two human beings I enjoyed more than tonight’s interview of the great Ian McKellen by the great Stephen Colbert. Every moment of it was a pleasure that I highly recommend… but then came the most REMARKABLE ending that you really HAVE to watch.

behaviour we would prosecute under existing laws if we prioritised the safety of the most vulnerable road users:

speeding, driving using a phone, breaking red lights, footpath parking, parking in bus lanes

behaviour we plan to prosecute because we prioritise motordom:

cyclists not wearing hi-viz
We wouldn't even need a bunch of legislative change here, just people to actually be prosecuted for breaking the laws that actually exist.

This mirrors my own experiences with reporting crimes and them not bothering to do anything and then fobbing me off.
