This was WH Smith’s in Putney. Built when I was about 4, Brutalist in style, gone in 2019. When I was a kid it contained almost the whole world. Books, magazines, comics, toys, games, stationery. seems a terrible shame to kill a brand like that. A world of memory gone

If (like me) you grew up with and loved this cover but didn't know its origin, it's a crop of Gregory Crewdson's "Untilted (Beer Dreams)". His work is beautiful - much of it uses surreal, mysterious, melancholy, frightening and mundane elements (to different degrees) in similar ways as the YLT cover

If I ever heard a doctor say “move fast and break things”, I wouldn’t just avoid that doctor, but the entire hospital. This ethos came from DevOps where automation is prevalent that enables people to not just move fast and break things, but to fix faster. (1/2)
