Somehow a 1979 novel called THE NIGHTWALKER by Thomas Tessier entered my awareness. After a glance at how well regarded it is, I'm eager to read it.

My wife is Puerto Rican and we thought Bad Bunny's halftime show was great. We're having traditional PR beef stew later. Given the current climate, it's great for our kids to see their heritage celebrated like this. 🇺🇸 🇵🇷

SHE’S FINISHED! My 5-foot-long Enterprise D oil painting is complete after nearly 100 hours of work!

I remember being 13 years old or so and trying to draw her and it was so hard, and all I wanted was to be able to do something like this. Truly a dream come true. 🥰🖖

AI slop is the literary equivalent of a smoothie made w/ high fructose corn syrup, motor oil, and surströmming, with some sprinkles on top. But I guess that tastes good to some. 🤷‍♂️

Good advice. I like to write a vision document, which will include a groomed logline. I know I've got it when I crack that doc, as I posted yesterday. Whatever your process, a clearly articulated vision before you're in the bramble will help you see the path.
#writersky #writing #screenwriting
I start with the logline. Every time. It's not easy or fun. But when you get a good one, one that makes me people lean in and say, ooo tell me more - there's no feeling like it. And the confidence that comes with knowing my core idea is rock solid makes all the tough days that follow bearable.
I love screenwriting SO MUCH

Finding a concept is FASCINATING

Developing a plot is DELIGHTFUL

Shaping a character is STIMULATING

Thinking up dialogue is THRILLING

Writing a logline is

Choosing a title is CAPTIVATING

Heading over to Burbank's House of Secrets later today to pick up my new @eccomics.bsky.social books. Plus, I got a sick kid at home and she's got her own books waiting that'll perk her right up. 😀

This bothers me so much I wrote a horror novel about it. Yesterday a notable physicist (not a biologist) surprised me by doubting the research. My challenge to doubters: sprinkle some microplastics on your dinner. Go ahead, I'll wait. 🤷‍♂️

Some ideas stick like tar. For years I've wanted to turn a short story into a full-length novel, but couldn't find its engine--until today, writing a 3K-word treatment: pitch, comps, outline, scene sketches. This one's going to go...and it's SCARY. 😱

If this doesn’t change things—if we don’t revoke the social license to operate to a ruling class who cultivated ties to Epstein—then nothing means anything anymore. There are no rules if they don’t apply to everyone. These powerful men have proven themselves to be without judgement, without merit.

Follow-up: I do hope SEND HELP puts McAdams in Oscar orbit a la Kathy Bates in MISERY. Her performance is that good, as was Dylan O'Brien's. The film is a bit like "MISERY on an island," as Linda's fantasy becomes a terrifying reality for her prisoner. Instant classic IMO. 😀
#SendHelp
#SENDHELP is my kind of movie: opposites thrust into a life-or-death situation, with Rami flair and lots of laughs. The office scenes had a lot of authenticity: IYKYK. When Linda gave Bradley a taste of his own medicine w/ the octopus, a lady down front yelled "Yes!" and the theater cracked up. 👍

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.

100% of his salary is paid by WA state.

Elon fired him. Share his story.

Terrific Fri night at the @amcinematheque.bsky.social screening of THE NATURAL: Dir. Barry Levinson, co-star Kim Basinger, DP Caleb Deschanel, and prod. Mark Johnson were there for a fun post-screening panel. This film stirs my heart and soul. #moviesky #RobertRedford #KimBasinger #filmsky #baseball

Excited to see this at the always-awesome Egyptian, w/ the filmmakers in attendance. One of my favorite films: a wonderful story about refusing to give up on your dreams when life knocks you sideways. It's also got some baseball in it. 😀

The only things that should be 'elevated' are elevators and sometimes your temperature.
A thing that often makes me see red is execs saying "but we're doing an elevated version of [x]." What if you... just did x? When an exec says "elevated version of" you can be pretty sure they mean "I think this is trash so we're trying to not do the thing you want but make you think we're doing it"

What a magnificent anthem for the great people of 💪 #Minneapolis from @brucespringsteen.net. I hope Minneapolitans blast this song at ICE 24/7 so it becomes an earworm they can't escape.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
