The story I have received the most interview requests for in 2025? Fucking ostriches. I did one early on, about the unlikelihood that the SCC would hear an appeal. And then an avalanche of requests for two months, all for one of the least important stories you can imagine. #Journalism
On Friday’s CBC The National ostriches occupied the number 3 report segment, getting about 2 minutes and 30 seconds of coverage.
The Statcan jobs report which came out the same day? 24 seconds.
Make of this what you will.

I don't care about Anaheim winning games. I want them to lose until Quenneville is fired. He doesn't deserve a job in the league, or at any level of hockey.

Oilers have 6 wins in 16 games. Draisaitl should have walked and McDavid should have sprinted after him.

The NBA and now this. Who possibly could have seen this coming?!?
Breaking news per Jeff Passan: “Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody”

Also as far as Ontario OnRoute goes, it is long past time they installed weather cover over their charging stations as well. This is Canada, we have snow and rain and a little consideration for people choosing to use EVs would be nice.

I am an EV owner, I really like my car and I believe in EV mandates to compel manufacturers to make more EV options for consumers. A serious ongoing issue for this field of vehicles remains charging accessibility.

Demidov is paced for a 71-point rookie season, which would tie the team record held by Mats Naslund and Kjell Dahlin. Oliver Kapanen is paced for a 55-point season, which has him paced right against Bernard Geoffrion's 54-point rookie campaign (7th all-time for MTL).

MTL's Top 3 defenders in Hutson, Dobson and Matheson are projecting for 71P, 60P and 49P respectively. If you're looking for a production comparison on that, you literally have to roll right back to the Big Three era of Robinson/Lapointe/Savard. Again, this can slow down, but what a group.

Nick Suzuki is on pace for a 109-point season. Cole Caufield is paced for a 98-point season. For a historical comparison, the last time the Habs had a player score 100+ and the guy behind him break 90+ was 1979-80. Guy Lafleur (125) and Pierre Larouche (91P). Their pace can slow obviously, but DAMN.

We had a Habs goalie showdown in the NCAA tonight. Dartmouth has 2022 6th-rounder Emmett Croteau and Cornell had 2025 5th-rounder Alexis Cournoyer. Dartmouth took the game 2-1. Croteau with 23 saves on 24 shots. Cournoyer had 24 saves on 26 shots.

That's game for Denver-Western Michigan, 6-3 for Denver. MTL's Quentin Miller makes 41 saves on 44 shots, Sam Harris has 1G, 1A on the evening. That actually saps Miller's save % a touch, but he just took two wins in 2 nights as a freshman against WM, a powerhouse in the NCHC.
