Snowboard commentators really do talk absolutely crap. "The young Australian has done a big double backside injured penguin with a tail flip and a neon walrus grab there. Beautiful."

"To become a great manager, you need to have people skills and not just technical knowledge", they said.

So why is it that the most "successful", visible managers I've known have neither people nor technical skills?

Me one, ChatGPT nil

I've written a PowerShell script that does weird Exchange calendar permissions stuff. My script is 111 lines long, ChatGPT's is 221 lines. *And* mine has 1 line per UPN, and uses "proper" Excel COMObject functions.

"OK Gemini, I want you to cycle through every mailbox in Exchange online and retrieve the mailbox permissions for every calendar using Get-MailboxFolderPermission, then dump everything to an Excel file."

"You don't know what the hell I'm asking?"

Looks like it's time for the annual "Who can stop England winning the Grand Slam?" tedium. The only thing more boring than this is the 4-yearly "Who can stop England winning the World Cup?" routine. I would wish the wooden spoon on England but I think that's heading back to Wales.

I do work in this space but personally loathe MS tooling UX.
Don't get me started on MS naming including constant changes - when you say Defender, which component? XDR? Defender for Identity, Defender for O365, Endpoint (oh you did mention this), Defender for Vuln Mgmt, Cloud Apps, IoT...more...

Any Microsoft Defender for Endpoint experts here? First off the device-based timeline logging is unbelievably good, but...is there a way to view more than 7 days of data at a time once you go back more than 30 days? Searching for notepad++ activity (obviously), but once I go earlier than 30 days...

's funny that kids growing up in the 70s and 80s in the UK were terrorised about everything from old fridges to grain silos to nuclear war, but nobody stopped them going on Jim'll Fix It.

Phew. There's a high profile NDR out there - won't mention names but they harp on about partnering with McLaren - and as of 2 months time I'll be able to stop using them. Which is good, because I think they're effectively snake oil. Really, really expensive snake oil.
