I think the funniest part about the katsucon/NFL auditioning-cheerleader incident is that all of the cosplayers present 100% had better physiques and presences than this woman who was walking in a bikini outfit to literally audition for the literal NFL

as a Kid Who Grew Up Online, roblox would have been my dream as a child and a nightmare as an adult w/ hindsight.

I feel bad when I read people who say they hate writing, especially to the extent they’d let an LLM do it. Writing was the path to making me feel human and the emotional journey of doing it all the time fills me full of purpose. I refuse to believe I’m the only person who feels like this!

Staph infections were fatal so often that we distinguished them by what part of the body they attacked first. "Childbed fever" is a term for a variety of post-birth complications that killed a lot of women. There are reasons wet nurses used to be so common. (And they're not all class-based.)

the biggest thing there is to say to normal people about everything nowadays is that previous generations did not work to advance our society so could go to shit. progress is meant to "fix society" and make us happier but we have not crafted a single safety net to actually ensure that happens
