This should bring a government down. Rob Anderson, Smith's Chief of Staff is a lawyer. He should know the law, and how it works.

This does shed light on Amery's Bill 14.

"general immunity from law society sanctions are necessary to ward off “political activism, or complaints" ...
"Democracy & justice in Alberta are being threatened. Alberta is being abused by its own government much the same way the United States of America is being abused by its current president."

Over 180 Lawyers have penned an open letter calling out Smith's attack on the law.

So if Alberta has RECORD oil production over 5.5M Bbls/day and is being penalized by Ottawa. Just reminder in 2015 the last day of the Harper gov production was about 4M Bbls/day. Yet you're complaining about being punished by Ottawa. In 2015 50,000 jobs were lost due to global price crash. HARPER
