In this new report from me & @rhymeswithocean.bsky.social for @cplusc.bsky.social & @publicgrids.org, we argue the current electricity affordability crisis is caused by the rules of private ownership. To solve the crisis, we recommend banning shutoffs now and using many tools to expand public power!

be so for real guys, ask yourselves if you honestly think that upon regaining legislative majorities, federal democrats will so much as cut ICE’s funding to pre-big beautiful bill levels, let alone shutter ICE entirely

this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

"The US official said, referring to the Israelis: 'They may be more comfortable with destroying [Iran] than we are'"

But US support still flows + expands despite the seeming disconnect; no sign of forcing restraint. Remarkable how Trump keeps echoing Biden on Gaza.

This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years.
