I don’t want to feel like I deal with things alone.

So if you all deal with anxiety, can yall repost this?

Just so I don’t feel alone.

This concept is often hard for devs to grasp too, not just players. I put it as "the joy of doing" vs. "the joy of being".

Why does some grind or hard challenge feel joyful in game A, but a chore in game B? You enjoy *existing* in game A. The "thing to do" serves that joy.

Pet the dog. Enjoy being

It may be a sign of my age but I remember a time when the Internet was designed so there wasn't a singular point of failure which took out half the Internet.

Cloudflare goes down way too often and way too many sites and resources use it

I love people who play indie games, but also I'm always a little disappointed when I see people saying "I love indie games, my favorites are: *insert the biggest and most popular indie games of the last 5 years and nothing else*"

I wish more people would search for gems, not just play the biggies.

Being an artist is being humble over and over. Not even in a bad way of being "humiliated" but trying something new, trying to grow, is accepting you aren't where you need to be. Accepting making "ugly" failed attempts. But it is sort of freeing.

a lot of people want to go into this field because it's their dream and while I think it's good to have dreams but it's a little hard to reconcile the fact that the industry often preys on dreams, i think it's better to ask yourself why you want this, it's a way to protect yourself

the thing with art/gamedev/other creative endeavors is that you don't have to do it as a job, my dad and his other middle aged buddies used to play soccer and none of them harbor any fantasy of being athletes, you can just play a little soccer or make a little gamejam project it's good for the soul

personally i think it's understandable for video games to be expensive but if they're expensive they need to be good and the people who make them need to get paid and treated well

I don’t talk about it much because the situation doesn’t really change but it’s still insane to me what an enormous amount of really talented game developers are out of work. just whole studios worth of incredible people, often people who worked on beloved games, unemployed.

Highly recommend: throwing any and all creatives a DM/comment/email to let them know how their work touched you, whether now or in the past.

I never expect a reply. But doing this regularly not only helps others see their art is valued, but improves your own confidence & connection.

BY THE WAY

If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.
