Hey cool. Thanks so much!
Pour One for the Devil by Theodore C. Van Alst, Jr.

An atmospheric and deliciously fucked up gothic tale that is a mishmash of Confederate legacies, indigenous cultures, Gullah language, and demons both literal and figurative.

Unexpectedly my favorite of these four?

My full blurb is a lot longer and I wanted to share it: I think Rascal has crafted a story here that is really wonderful, and could be placed alongside This Is How You Lose the Time War as a blueprint for a compelling, propulsive, gorgeous epistolary novel.

Remember the ole 90’s romance trope with a drink spilled on a guy’s shirt and “aww man now I gotta take my shirt off”? lol. Related, I’m watching Ghost right now.

This is the stuff I have to write down just to get out of my system so I can continue with the book. Just goofy dialog with no point.

The best thing about Frankenstein discourse is that it's really cemented how much I don't care about other people's opinions on art. "Frankenstein is too much of a villain." "Inland Empire doesn't make sense." "Cat People isn't scary enough." If I love a movie I just don't care if you don't like it.

My favorite thing about TikTok is when I get an email alert like “an adult man that you don’t know who has two first names has viewed your profile.” I know I can probably turn these alerts off, but like I said, it’s my favorite thing.

My kid was in a play this weekend and it’s Cinderella. the first line is “His Royal Highness, Christopher Rupert“ (etc.) but it sounded to me like “Christopherloofer” and I’ve seen it twice now and I can’t stop singing my own dumbass version around the house constantly
