Wife, dog mom, runner, career nanny, chronic illness warrior, blue dot in a red state (for now). I love reading, fast cars, and Steelers football.
You cannot simultaneously be mad that the Senate Dems caved when House Dems are holding the line and view Schumer as an effective leader, bc if he was an effective leader he would have kept his caucus in line, not helped them orchestrate this bullshit.
Q: Do you view Chuck Schumer as effective and should he keep going?
Hakeem Jeffries: Yes and Yes.

Actually me when this happened, lol.

Feels like both is possible, but the past several minutes make the Jones regression feel more likely, unfortunately, as a Steelers fan.
Is this a Steelers defense is kinda fixed game or a Daniel Jones regression hits all at once game

I will never stop screaming that gerrymandering (and voter suppression tactics, which Texas *loves*) and voter apathy are pretty strongly connected. When you gerrymander and make it hard for ppl to vote, over time you make them believe their vote doesn't matter.

JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

I don't even live in NY yet and I'm already livid with my soon-to-be senators 🙃
The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.

So.....
1. Holy antisemitism, Batman! 😳
2. Completely denying girls can be autistic?

The idiocy, it burns!
Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

Please make sure Gov Abbott knows how much we do NOT want him to do this!!!
If you're opposed to Greg Abbott allowing Texas National Guard troops to invade a peaceful American city, it's probably a good time to speak up.

1/ Today Boston senior federal judge William Young has issued a clarion defense of the 1st Amendment rights of non-citizens which may go down as the most notable decision of his 47-year career. It begins with an unheard-of preface *above the caption* which reproduces a threat he received in chambers

It’ll go down in history as the Trump Republican shutdown of 2025. The same day they disrespected our military and Trump waged war on the American people.

If they drop religious exemptions too, it will affect more than just black men but the affected groups will still not be white, so they won't care.

The racist states of America y'all 🤦‍♀️
This is one of those subtle ways systemic racism shows up y’all. It sounds innocuous right? Gotta be clean shaven in the military so if you can’t do that well you gotta go. But this isn’t innocuous. Because Black men are the largest group of military members that get what’s called a shaving profile.
I may or may not have already posted this but in case I didn’t and you need another example of how Kegsbreth is a flaming racist asshole, here ya go. This is absolutely disproportionately affect black male service members. Tell me about this “fighting force” you’re gonna have, Petey…

Effing brilliant! It opens with the line “No more great again,” adds “Don’t want soldiers on our streets” and “No more money to the fascists / The billionaire fascists” before returning to a harmonized refrain, “There’s big crime in D.C. at the White House.”

putting aside the trans rights issues specifically (lol), I think part of what has me so frustrated with the Newsom thing is that Pritzker, Walz, and Zohran are putting on clinics for a popular, progressive politics and we’re wasting time talking about this used car salesman ass goblin.

reposted this today because the inverse is also true:

if you abandon trans people right now, you are abandoning civil rights period.

if you can't stand up for trans people when it matters, no one should, or will, ever trust you when the bullseye moves to the next target.
the thing about trans rights is that we fight the civil rights issues of our time. nazi chuds have made this the issue of our time.

it's not more *important* than other civil rights issues, but it is the battleground of the moment, and we have to meet the moment to support everyone's rights.
Centrists bigots and right wingers have this all backward. YOU are the ones constantly bringing up trans issues. I would be happy to not think about this shit every day of my life unless I was talking to or reading something by one of my trans friends and thought of it in passing. SHUT THE FUCK UP

Okay I get that I'm a nerd (and queer), but I use 1/3-1/2 of these words on a quasi regular basis and I'm not a political person nor part of academia. There aren't alternatives for some of these words and they're important ones, which then implies some think they should be ignored entirely.
It would be a huge step forward for Democrats and for general clarity in political writing if these terms went away. These came mostly from academic hothouses.
August 24, 2025 at 3:00 AM
Omg please, this. Just this.
Pritzker is on the right side of every important current issue and is absolutely a guy who will go along with a Congress doing lefty things.

Elect him and 55 angry Democrats and they'll get shit done.

This is why you watch Pritzker above anybody else. He is not a revolutionary. No one with any honesty will ever think him such. But he is far too rich to need anybody, and he is from Chicago, and he likes to show it.
Pritzker is the most establishment Democrat there is, he just has courage. (Billions of dollars and a trifecta will do that)
And if leftists continue to make Pritzker their figurehead, they are going to eventually be gravely disappointed when he continues to roll his eyes and says “I’m not a leftist”
