Writer of crime fiction under my own name. Published author (starting Sept. 8, 2023!) of morally-deficient pulp novels as Clint Reno.
CRIME 101 (2026)

It's not going to be a box office hit* and it won't be considered a classic in the fullness of time, but I liked it.

The flavor of this short piece from Frabk Vatel is like a fine wine dancing on the tongue and in the nose.

It's a rich, full piece of noir in the sun that is easily worth the read. A story about a man released from prison that could be about anything, really. But could only ever be about one thing.

Live by disengaged dummies ...
New poll: In 2024, low-engagement voters went for Trump over Harris by 11 percentage points. But now they disapprove of the way he's handling the presidency by 13. They have moved 25 points against Trump — 2x as large as the shift for high-knowledge voters www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trump-lost...
Trump has lost the voters who weren’t paying attention in 2024
The least-engaged Americans have swung 25 points against him since 2024 — about twice the shift among everyone else. Trump has flattened the engagement gap.

It's not a new observation at this point but that wild Noem/Lewandowski story in WSJ really brings home the extent to which all the Trump 2 cabinet-level goblins see their jobs as flying private, doing short-form video, and screaming at underlings. They all hate each other and none of them can read.

A flash story of mine, titled “The Macaw,” was published today at Revolution John. It’s a crime story. And a love story. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Many thanks to Anthony Neil Smith and AnneMarie, the editors at RevJohn.

LADY ON A TRAIN (1945)

Neither a noir nor a musical nor a screwball, but a fun little mix of all three. The old movie studio system had a lot to recommend it. I discovered this film from a list of top 25 screwball comedies. So far, so good.

None of LeDoux's work has ever been collected in book form and I feel a little sad about that.

I think I need to get offline more.

Honest to god, I just said to my boss, "It's only kaiju if they're from Japan. Otherwise, they're just sparkling giant monsters" and got such a look, like I'd starting speaking in tongues while snake handling.

Reading #RobertBloch’s PSYCHO for the first time. What an incredible novel. I’ve seen the movie, so no real surprises here, but I can’t stop thinking about how amazing it would’ve been to read it upon release, completely shocked by the twists and turns. It had to be jaw-dropping.
