Body Puzzle (1992). A late giallo from Lamberto Bava, with a killer who has a Walkman (he puts on headphones and cranks Night on Bald Mountain every time he kills). Minor character at the graveyard named Mario Fulci was a nice touch. Enjoyed it.

She's coming back.

It's been a crappy week, friends, but our cover designer has sent us the final approved cover to The Bartender: Whiskey Warfare.

Still got a ways to go before the manuscript is ready for prime time, but Brodie is gonna be kicking ass all over the place soon.

Bless her.

Young, Violent, Dangerous (1976). Starts with three guys having innocent fun, playing. Just kids. Until they knock over a gas station & murder the fuck out of four people. Youth today. No worries: Tomas Milian is on the case. And he isn’t out to rehabilitate.

The 2026 reading thread kicks off with a sci-fi banger from the prolific imagination of Coy Hall, The Owl Men of Shanidar. Do yourself a favor: drop everything and read all of Coy’s books. Time very well spent.

3: The Owl Men of Shanidar, by Coy Hall.

An uncompromising, eerie, and deliciously uncomfortable sci-fi thriller by a man who treads new ground with each book.

The central mystery is compelling, and the escalation to revelation takes us to dizzying new heights.

Unsettling in a very good way.

Alright, happy 2026, everyone.

Finally gonna post my top 5 books I read in 2025.

These books did not necessarily have to be published in 2025, just read by me for the first time in that year.

Starting with number five in the comment below! 👇👇👇

Tonight’s first watch: Execution Squad (1972). A secret society of former cops finds & murders criminals, sometimes before trial, sometimes after.

The .44 Specialist (1976). A first watch of this poliziottescho from director Stelvio Massi. Third in the ‘Mark the Narc’ trilogy. Gasparri infiltrates a terrorist org, taking the action from Rome to Milan and into Germany. John Saxon appears as an Interpol agent. Enjoyed it.

Watched the 1939 Hound of the Baskervilles. A fairly faithful adaptation minus a few details (the brother sister twist at the end is excluded). Great cast included John Carradine & Lionel Atwill.

The Owl Men of Shanidar (2025) by Coy Hall.
4.5/5 🌟
A mystical & theological science fiction novel that reminds me of late stage Philip K. Dick. It questions the blind faith and perils of insidiously allowing oneself to believe and worship a manical messiah.
