don't think i've plugged #gomiasto in a while, not on here anyway. it's A FUN GAME where you have to guess a place based on distance and direction. there's a uk version, as well as usa, and manchester metrolink, which is far too difficult to be fun. rlychrisg.github.io/GoMiasto/

Citizenship stripping has become a political tool for authoritarians to signal their credentials.

No matter how abhorrent someone’s tweets, or views, the idea REMOVING THEIR CITIZENSHIP should be the response is deranged.
Philp & the right in general have lost the plot. #r4today

they keep doing more years with frankly diminishing returns, they'll never come close to the classics. i just think it's tragic and sort of embarrassing at this point. give it up, eh lads. we've all had enough this.

i'm just putting this out there now, if i ever make a sweeping generalisation, and get any pushback for it that falls short of abuse or a threat to my well being or safety, i am hereby declaring that i deserve it for not anticipating all the exceptions.

and i would have to eat these words.

and i am properly fixed on hyprland now. having something like hyprctl is a deal breaker. maybe i'll pick up where i left on sway but swaymsg isn't as simple to use. also i don't like manual tiling. i don't even like tiling.

Not enough people are paying attention to the schisms in Anglicanism, a religion that largely hides in plain sight in the UK. But the ugliness exposed by the appointment of the new Archbish — the hostility of parishes who were previously still opting out of women priests — will only get worse.
Tommy Robinson carol service is really just the beginning of the CoE’s coming crisis, in which they’re going to have to figure out what to do about their former congregations becoming radicalised into a version of the faith that is aggressive, disavows empathy and has contempt for the weak

Been using Linux full time since the day after Microsoft announced their horrible, forced AI.

Still don't regret it in the slightest. The grass is definitely greener.
Living with Windows has always been a calculus of how useful it is professionally vs. the amount of unbearable shit you gotta disable with a script and I think we reached a tipping point where it’s majority unbearable shit.

i... actually cannot believe this. considering the right seems to have made themselves the champions of anti-racism when it comes to antisemitism, this is a suspiciously committed caricature of a jewish man. there are no excuses for this.
No idea who Laurent Brindeau is, but isn’t this caricature of @zackpolanski.bsky.social in today’s @dailymailpolitics.bsky.social ragingly antisemitic?

a lot of people bemoan how divided society is now and why can't we just sit down and have a conversation. they need to face up to the fact that a lot of people are just repeating what they heard in a podcast, where the host only chimes in to say "woahh no way" or "dude that's so true".
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

By far the most destructive economic myth is that rich people are where money comes from. This is the opposite of true. Rich people are the stagnant pools in which money uselessly collects and goes sour.
Despite threats, billionaires don't leave the largest population centers, because it's where there is the most money to be had from the collective value generated by human beings, and despite what they insist, they don't generate wealth; they collect it.
“California is on a path to self-destruction,” wrote Bill Ackman, joining opposition to a tax proposal alongside Google’s cofounder and more.

A producer friend and I bemoaned the fact that podcasting is rapidly turning into shit TV, so it's bad both visually and audibly.

Also, it takes podcasting away from the (free, open) RSS feed and locks it into specific sites, which I thought we all agreed was a bad thing

been saying this for a while podcasts are slowly becoming tv shows with shit audio and more questionable guests

As a 'rural' person who grew up with hunts as a regular presence, there's little more alienating than a bunch of sociopathic posh people on horseback descending upon your community with a pack of jittery hounds, in order to dismember a small woodland animal usually encountered in children's stories

Quite a lot can be explained by the plain fact that our leaders and their hangers on are *enraged* that they can’t send people to prison for doing things that aren’t illegal, and they see this as a very serious problem that needs to be resolved, urgently.

also i'm pretty sure reckless should have a w in it? what's the deal there? it's not a word i use a lot in written english, however apt, given my interests. i'll carry on omitting the w because it seems i am in the wrong. i feel like it's worth a mention though. going forward. or something.

The Marc Maron bit I think of every day “I’m about 80% woke, and the rest I keep to myself” I think about it when I get irritated, and I think about it when I see someone being wrong either because they’re thick as shit or because they’re being wrong for the algorithm.
Per Craig Ferguson: When you're about to say something, ask yourself

1. Does this need to be said

2. Does this need to be said by me

3. Does this need to be said by me right now

It's amazing how asking these will get keep you out of trouble (that is, if you actually have sense to begin with)
I’ve been trying very hard to not be an asshole as I get older. Often, that just means keeping my mouth shut and nodding along.
