i like playing a video game and updating to the latest kernel made it stop working. this is the reality of arch (or arch-based) linux breaking. it's never been a show stopper for me. maybe like once a year something like this happens. so i restore a snapshot and wait a few days before updating.

imagine data in star trek getting in your mentions, telling you the distance and ETA until impact with pin point accuracy, but following it up with "i mean that's unless Q shows up and puts us on the other side of the planet for a laugh or something"

i know the election is years away and anything could happen but we've had about a year n half of the thing that happens being the thing that was most likely to happen, so i'm going to assume this is how it will carry on.

DWP do make it clear in their statistical bulletin that the composition of UC claimants is changing through managed migration, but it would be helpful if they also published charts of people claiming UC or equivalent legacy benefits! bsky.app/profile/loui...
Of course, researchers try to make sense of this by collating lots of different DWP data releases...
But we shouldn't expect journalists to do this every month. Until DWP publish their data more clearly, we shouldn't be surprised if misleading and unforgiving headlines keep coming.

The full scandal of Maitlis, Barnes & Cohen at newsnight is gobsmacking. Theyre responsible for so much harm. Details, including multiple articles of proof, here: bsky.app/profile/mimm...
Emily Maitlis brags about her, Deb Cohen, and Hannah Barnes getting the Tavistock GIDS service shut down.
What she doesn't talk about is how Newsnight journalists manufactured outrage and concocted "scandals" based on unethical journalism - which they were called out for, but tried to hide...

it's not that i think it would help, in many ways i agree the opposite, it's just that i think it's inevitable. this is something i changed my mind on this week. i think fighting to prop up the bbc will be energy spent propping up a network that is only really beholden to the reactionary right.

his govt and MPs hoping to get a job one day have spent their time in power calling it "legitimate concerns" so yeah he's right but it's on him.
