“Nobel Peace Prize” as a tangible object (concrete) vs. an institutional designation (abstract): good moment for teaching the ubiquitous linguistic phenomenon of polysemy

A really remarkable interview. Enormous love and respect to Ben for being so open about what he has suffered and how he has learned to cope.
This interview with conductor Ben Glassberg by my colleague Elisabeth Schwarz is well worth your time and a salutary reminder of the pressures performers face under the social media microscope: bachtrack.com/interview-be...

Early on in this Presidency I said that a major indicator that a society has moved from democracy to authoritarianism is to treat all opposition as treason.

This is incredible: 81% of working class and 83% of young voters have seen video of Renee Good's killing, per new data I've obtained. Majority of working class disapproves of ICE enforcement. ICE brutality is breaking through big time.

Some thoughts on this here:

I feel like the best way to understand the Greenland situation is simply to substitute the word "Sudetenland" every time you time you read "Greenland"

Greenland. My latest in @thebulwark.com
Asking the world’s most elite special operations force to brainstorm ways to “attack” an island three times the size of Texas populated by roughly 56,000 people, most of whom already host and love American troops, is lunacy.

How is it possible that the president of the United States proposes an invasion of a NATO territory & there is no immediate impeachment? Did the democratic system in the US completely collapse? I don't think it’s any sort of wild over exaggeration to say they are essentially now a failed democracy.

I sincerely hope there are people in the Foreign Office working on the US that have a background in reality television, given POTUS's propensity for governing like the producer of Jersey Shore/RHOSLC. Maybe they should get Andy Cohen/someone else from Bravo in to consult.
