Minnesota’s “miracle” over the last decade includes free school luncheons, paid leave, clean energy investments, free college for middle income families, $$$ for transportation/healthcare/education, $$$ earmarked to replace every lead pipe in the state, labor rights, environmental initiatives, etc.

Private companies get $160 or more per detainee per day for a full facility whether full or not.
They also profit off inmate phone calls, commissary, transport, etc. The profit rolls right back to the uber wealthy who use politicians like puppets. Black and Brown folks have always known this.

After talking/raging/weeping about *everything* yesterday, I told the spouse our morning coffee and news needs to be just coffee today. Trying very hard to find a topic that wasn't upsetting, he asked with genuine interest, "What do you think a yawning crocodile sounds like?"

15 years ago the publisher of my first book insisted I have an author site under my name. Although allergic to self-promotion, I did, and regularly posted essays despite dismal views. Last month a few of my essays hit it big -- in China!
