There’s an older more sinister threat to American democracy that, despite the common themes and compatibility with various forms of fascism, is uniquely American, built on racism and long repeated myths.
I keep seeing ppl calling out Greer for lying about Canadian GDP, but these guys see constant blatant lies, especially absurd lies, as a power play.

So while it’s good to call out their lies for the benefit of onlookers, we should know that calling them out won’t deter them from lying.
These guys can’t imagine that ppl would resist coercion. They can’t tell the diff b/t a mafia movie and reality. We’re all just NPCs to them. So it really bothers them when ppl say “fuck that”.
Greer: "The thing to keep in mind with Canada is this is a country that's 75% dependent on the United States for its gross domestic product ... it can't be a situation where the Canadians have an antagonistic relationship"

America is learning the hard way that "we make a lot of money together, you benefit from trade with us" does not actually equal "we own you and you must be subservient," and that countries will forgo some money to preserve sovereignty.

Today's corrupt, self-interested US leaders don't get that.

Canada has stood with America when we were at our lowest, has fought and died in wars alongside us, has done everything a nation could to help and be amicable with another. And now America has gratuitously stabbed Canada in the back, and continues to do so. Things can never be the same again.
With Friends Like These

What is the word for this mentality/thinking/approach to politics
(Clintonism, popularism, consultant brain, Schumerism)?
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

Canada put up the money for this international bridge because the US wouldn’t do it. The cost is to be repaid over time by tolls. Now that it’s close to opening, Trump says he wants half ownership

You have no idea how immigration moving to outside of Montreal is breaking so many brains here.

It is the direct result, and success, of the last 30 years of immigration policy to boost French speaking immigration and boost immigration out to the regions.
I mean it use to be that, but now like 95% of Quebecers can speak French and it has turned into everyone against Montreal, because the city is multicultural.

The third link is just that, reactionary whataboutism from Livy because they hate Montreal.

like, let's be real here: do you think the terminally online RW Americans that comprise Twitter don't end up pushing the admin to push pro-annexation and pro-intervention content during the Alberta Crisis?
but also dangerous because I think there's a strong possibility we see a MAGA filibuster after they lose

This is what I’m afraid of
so my prediction is the separatists probably get their referendum and then lose by a landslide and then whine to the Yankees about how the referendum was rigged

I think the answer is simpler than the explanation in this video. Racists are afraid of being shamed for their racist views. Their cries for “free speech” aren’t actually about free speech, but about wanting a lack of negative social consequences for being openly racist.
