Show love and kindness to the widow, the orphan, and the stranger. she/her
I was able to explain to some Vhinese tourists, ‘I don’t like Trump because he is requiring my passport to say male. Do you think I’ve done anything offensive/detestanle deserving of this?’
I really don’t think trans issues are very amenable to polling. If you showed someone a picture of Sarah McBride and asked “Should this person go to jail for using the women’s bathroom?” I think most people would say no and be really confused at the question.

Stranglehold is a decent 3rd person shooter but it's directed by a guy who is *hyped* at the ideal of the camera not being a physical thing and it can go fucking anywhere in a scene
Why is it when people talk about "cinematic" games they never mean the good stuff like this?

I wonder if life in Korea is uniquely awful for both young people and the elderly
I would perhaps counter with Korea — which went from an extremely low suicide rate to an extremely high one from the 1980s to the 2010s (especially among the elderly). At the same time, family sizes plummeted. Is that loneliness? Hard to say, but imho seems lonely-adjacent.

So sometimes I dress a bit kore masc because I like a sharp suit. I have a couple silk Hermes ties I like.

It is viewed as inappropriate for a young man to wear an Hermes tie to a school admissions interview or entry level job because it’s percieved as showing off dad’s money.
You know, while I’ve never cared for blåhaj I’m just gonna put it bluntly: thinking this way about the trans women who do is transmisogynist

Internalize that enough and you end up like Nichole from RCBG

So I’m tapping the sign:

There's a lot of cum in Hong Kong. Cum, in the western anglophone world (since 1920s) had been used as a slang term for reproductive fluid. Cum itself comes from Latin, meaning "with/and". Hong Kong English uses a lot of terms from British colonial period, which since went out of fashion. 🧵

And in classical and medival times, well over half a woman’s time was spent on spinnijg fibres into thread. It’s easy. It’s so easy, even a child. But imagine having to do it from sunup to sundown, six days a week.

There’s a reason spinning was one of the first industrialised productions.
Prior to electrification the average housewife spent literal hours every day just tending the stove, on top of the cooking, cleaning, mending, child rearing, sewing (for the family plus the little bit of work to bring in cash), collecting water, buying food (can't store it long, no fridge), etc.

In Macroeconomics, we learned that domestic labor is not counted toward GDP
I think it's because of the way our society values labor that generated revenue for the ruling class and devalues labor performed by women. Kids are not taught what work can look like

Defense definitionally is resistance. It is confrontational and heroic.

Iirc the only real, lasting group that preaches nonresistance are the Amish. They were able to move en masse out of Germany to the US, where they’ve kept a low profile since.
there's something spectacular in defining yourself as "community-led defense" and then insisting upon principled "non-confrontation" in the face of fascism, irrespective of the merits or issues with using whistles as a community alert mechanism

And practice is the sole criterion for testing truth...
the tactics that work in Minneapolis are all ones that attempt to make every ICE detention into a massive, visible, unignorable spectacle—the opposite of non-confrontation and de-escalation, frankly, not least because they've started responding (because it works) with tear gas and "non-lethals"

Quite a lot of laws, such as noise ordinances and traffic laws, are meant to help us all live in harmony. But Emergency Services gets to ignore those laws—rightfully so. I don’t see why whistles to warn people of impending danger should be any different.
How is using whistles ableist?

I don’t think people consider fire alarms to be ableist despite the fact that for many people, myself included, who have enhanced hearing, they are painfully loud. A lot of things are. But there’s also absolutely a necessity for certain things to be that loud

I am absolutely at the stage where any sketch that’s remotely passable gets shared. It’s taken *days* of effort to remember how faces work after fatigue wiped my body out due to… petting one extra cat this week.

This Rhenna needed minimal tweaks when I page flipped, which is a true miracle for me.
