I'm not a lawyer, but it is interesting that none of the claims made by PCT Global appear to be made under intellectual property law, but rather "misleading and deceptive conduct" under consumer protection laws.

I'd be fascinated to see the statement of claim.

Minister Katy Gallagher's statement about the fed govt's new "AI Plan" was probably AI generated.

- parallel sentence structure (it's not x. it's y)
- three part list with ", and" against APS style guide
- that first full stop was almost definitely an em dash.

What will KatyGPT come up with next?

I just Did The Math and worked out that the Commonwealth Bank has pulled in roughly $233b in profit (NPAT, statutory) since its full privatisation in 1997. The last 10 years alone represents more than $100b in profit.

Adjusted to 2024/25 fy inflation.

There is something really wrong with people who need workers to be not just competent, but slavishly fake-happy. "Slavishly" used on purpose, bc that's where this grotesquerie comes from.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

From 11 December, Telstra will be rolling out an update to their "Customer Terms". This includes some plans not having access to network upgrades, or even the same coverage. Some plans will have "data prioritisation" i.e. pay more money or you'll have slower speeds.

It is grimly amusing that Australia’s second largest Defence acquisition deal ($46bn!) was referred to the NACC - for good reason - but the Commissioner won’t look at it bc he’s still a ranking ADF officer.
Readers will be astonished that this referral two yrs ago has yielded nothing yet.

also the government can press button and create more means.
Sussan Ley today in a speech on the economy: "Government must live within its means, just as families and businesses do."

Cripes.

I guess no families or business hold any debt.
