I do think we’re focusing too much on how much a capital gains tax would bring in and not enough on the “fuck landlords and fuck em hard” aspect of it

ok FINE I’ll stop hating on Python now
as a condition of funding, we were asked to affirm that we wouldn’t undertake any diversity, equity, and inclusion work, whether or not we used the government funds to do so. The PSF simply couldn’t agree to that statement,

Starting to feel like I have to go meet a guy in a back alley to get #semiconductor epi substrates these days. Can we please stop this trade war bullshit? It really hurts when China retaliates. I would like to keep having a job. #Chemsky anyone else feeling indium deficient these days?

Back on my insomniac medical journal reading bullshit, for reasons. Surprised at how much sense the papers make now vs. 10 years ago when I was new to this.
Anyone on #chemsky working on autoimmune kidney disease?

In short : a speckle essentially has a random polarization state at any position, we exploit this to show we can violate a BI.

Color doesn’t exist outside the brain. 🧠
From fruit flies to humans, perception transforms raw light into hues, even nonspectral ones like purple. New work is mapping the neural circuits that make color possible. 🎨

A most curious absence of color outside your head
Neuroscientists are still working to unravel how humans perceive color.

Occasionally I have a dream where I’m arguing with someone about organic chemistry and I say something and wake up and…it was perfectly correct and coherent
Damn, It’s in my brain pretty deep. And I miss it terribly. I like waferland but I am, technically, a long way from home 😭

I agree with this and I don’t. There are a lot of grey areas, and humans are vicious and will kill each other with hammers. But we have a responsibility to build only the things that can help us build a better world, and that excludes a lot.
Technology is morally neutral, it's how we use technology that determines everything

Hey #chemsky and #crystalgrowth folks - anyone here have expertise on metal contamination in III-V #semiconductor wafers? Looking for some benchmarks and the kind of data I suspect doesn’t often see the light of day in publications.
It’s a long shot, I know.

in this funding hellscape I’m increasingly seeing startup founders as little Robin Hoods, siphoning off a little money from the VC class where they can, redistributing it so we can sort of afford to survive, helping us stave off the technofeudalism a little longer
