as fascist paegentry, the DC parade left a lot to be desired. There wasn't very much martial (marshall?) music. The soldiers -most in fatigues, not dress uniforms- didn't goose-step or high-step. More like they were strolling. they weren't in sync 1/2

Newsom’s speech was good, struck the right tone. Hopefully it has an impact though I can’t imagine Congress being shamed into action
