Dems had a majority in both chambers of the state lege (and a supermajority in one), state employees never missed a paycheck, and three state universities were devastated and still haven't come close to recovering nearly a decade later. I'm glad they fought Rauner but this is not a good analogy.
Illinois Democrats never caved to Bruce Rauner
Just pointing that out

Not that there's a bunch of us, but I think a contingent of feds on here have been incentivized to just block 50% of the users here tonight, because man "you should eat shit indefinitely for undetermined reasons so I can poast about The Revolution" is a taek I guess, but not one I want to see
I, a 15-year career federal employee, am responsible for ACA subsidies being taken away.
Not the tens of millions of people who voted to give Donald Trump's Republican Party control of the American government, no, they're blameless victims. It's my fault and I should suffer for it.
fuck this shit.

I've seen people with Followings on here unironically suggesting running the shutdown through midterms and there's no non-condescending way to point out that keeping the government closed an entire year is actually literally societal collapse stuff.

It'd be nice if the House was in session and talking about appropriations so we're not governing by crisis every 8 months or so. But that would probably mean pulling the lever for Democrats, which this fucking site hates to hear

Why aren’t people mad at Republicans? They’re the ones doing this. Instead of talking about primaries against Democrats make efforts to get Republicans replaced with Democrats so we’re not put in the position?

"If Democrats are seen as the party looking out for federal employees by getting them their paychecks that will be a PR disaster because people hate federal employees" sure is a take you can post, I can say so because I'm unfortunate enough to have seen it with my own eyes
