The increasingly prevalent "my righteous anger immunizes me from having to engage with any meaningful material reality as long as my rage is directed at Democrats" form of argumentation from big accounts is a form of crybullying, in this essay

"Former libertarians" continuing to hate Dems more than the right? Why there's a shock.

Very real chance that the Rep coalition is in the middle of being shattered to bits over a heroically strong Minneapolis. Elected Dems are doing a good job of pressing their advantage.

And a not insubstantial corner of this website is pretending it’s not happening because posting mad feels good.

For all the left shits on incrementalism, we've seen what a *lack* of incrementalism does: it's backsliding.

If you always choose to punish the people who improve things, albeit slowly, they'll be replaced by people who destroy things, not people who accomplish everything all at once.
One issue on the left - and it has been an issue for a while, is kind of a disbelief in incrementalism.

Like we see it with people criticizing people celebrating a small win. We get the work is not done! But progress is progress.

I don't keep doomers in my feed but since apparently some folks do: "celebrate each and every win, loudly" is Organizing 101

This is what Trump does, because he's a stupid capricious man with no true principles, and it's why you frankly look like a dummy if you lecture Tim Walz or Jacob Frey for playing the game and working him over in the service of trying to save their state and their city from further horrors.
Feels like Trump is pretty much unconditionally surrendering as support collapses

“Winning a battle doesn’t matter because the war is still being fought” is fucking doomerism.
“Sure, the Nazis just surrendered in Stalingrad, but it doesn’t matter because Hitler is still in charge.”

Who’s next?

One demotion cannot detract from accountability.

Greg Bovino and Trump’s agents must still be held responsible for the killings and the damage they’ve done to America.
Greg Bovino Loses His Job
The Border Patrol chief has been ousted from his role as “commander at large,” and will return to El Centro.

it is both true that firing bovino doesn’t change a whole lot in terms of policy and also true that they have put a lot of money, time and effort into trying to make him the “never back down, fuck you, we own this place” face of the operation, and unceremoniously kicking him to the curb is a retreat

Really want to find out if this was one of Senate Dems’ demands. I don’t think that would be the only pressure. But it may have been a factor.

Let people celebrate that a ghoul got got instead of immediately pointing out that the fascist fucks are still everywhere, the work isn't finished, etc etc. We know. We get to spike the football too.

Again, if you shit on Dems right now after a clear win (the same way you do after anything that goes wrong) then you're eithet just a Republican or choose to empower them.

I've hated Chipper Jones and his play-the-right-way bullshit since he was called up in the early 90s. Good to see I was correct in my assessment from the get-go.

replies to this are full of people who I assume either tragically suffer brain damage that makes it impossible to retain long term memory or are literal children.
Because we're all trapped in the event horizon of the 2016 primary we have to pretend that "universal healthcare", something that every Democratic administration has worked to expand since Truman, is something that "liberalism" has fought against, instead of a bog-standard part of the platform.

also anyone who goes "well the Patriots are much more likeable now without Brady and Belichick!" no, get out. You guys tried pulling off that nonsense with the 2024 Yankees. You're trying to do it now. Stop while you're ahead.
