Finland's epidemic 23 Dec 2025: amount of virus in wastewater appears to have risen above the first Omicron wave. Post-Omicron baseline is permanently higher than pre-Omicron; repeated waves are showing no diminishing.

I am always interested in historical books. Through the University of Helsinki I found e.g. this:

I think it is very cool that anyone can nowadays see and study such manuscripts.

i know this is hardly a new take but isn’t it WILD that wikimedia has to ask for donations to keep itself afloat when every LLM in the world has been trained on wikipedia data?
This is my cyclical reminder that there's really only one consistently reliable source of info in the public record that isn't owned by right wing billionaires, who really want to put an end to it.

Please give at least the $2.75 minimum they request if you can.

Pretty wild announcement. But the arguments behind it are not wrong - as long as EMU policy as based so much on what Germany needs, Finland can only become "statistically competitive", i.e. in the flawed ULC measure, through internal devaluation. This wreaks society (see Greece, Spain).
Finland's minister of finances suggests that Finland should secede from EMU and euro currency. Finland leaving EU altogether is the main ideological objective in the minister's True Finns party's program.

What exactly did Venezuela stole from the US? The oil etc. is in Venezuela, not the US. And AFAIK Venezuela has never been part of the US...

This is even more unhinged that Putin claiming to protect/assist the Russian-speaking separatists.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

Most planners I know are familiar with this playbook, and will also point out that democratically mandated public consultation processes are often manipulated to play into this, which is how we get watered down (or non existent) rather than transformative project outcomes.
Have you heard of “The Populist Playbook?”

A few years ago, I posted what I still consider one of my most important messages.

It was about “The Populist Playbook” that I’ve watched play out often over my 33+ years of city planning.

Since then, it’s only gotten worse.

Do the steps sound familiar?

Wow. This is a pretty big thing. I do a lot of reviewing and my stance is commonly to focus on the things that researchers can improve, but also discuss the fundamental approach. This "plausibility of the argument" is very dangerous imho.
Came across this on peer reviewers using AI just after reading Loru et al's (2025) 'The simulation of judgment in LLMs'.
Epistemia: "the illusion of knowledge emerging when plausibility replaces verification"; an epistemic shift in judgment.
