I mad a starter pack for African Studies. Let me know who else should be in here!
There are instances when I’m just glad to live in France, where reading in transit is just the most normal thing to do and no one would make creepshots of you to blast you as „performative“ because they can’t imagine people just enjoying a book.
Oh fuck off

Fun fact: at the end of his career (and life), Malinowski was embarking on the study of the concept of 'Freedom'. He saw nationalism as the chief obstacle to human freedom. This is the tentative argument structure; pay attention to the paragraph at the bottom of the page.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Leave it to a a handful of Senate Democrats to cave in a moment where they held actual political power, leverage, had momentum, when the base finally felt something akin of hope and excitement again. Truly stunning.

Right, enough of James Watson - who's a senior academic you've met who's been an utter delight?

Not sure if he’s still touring btw but if you see Shabaka coming to town, go. Whatever you think of flutes (and I know most of us are all little Adornos in that regard), he will blow. your. mind. And also educate you about the different kinds of flutes he’s playing around with.
Also his jazz flute era is brilliant! (Though I have to say this only really became apparent to me after I saw an arguably even more brilliant performance by Shabaka Hutchings)

I…did not know that
One of the few people acquitted at Nuremberg was the first Nazi Minister of Economics Hjalmar Schacht - whose full name was implausibly Horace Greeley Hjalmar Schacht because his parents were fans of the American abolitionist.

It makes me unbelievably angry that they are now colonising Afrofuturism.
If you take a longer view then Anglofuturism is *already* mainstream
