As we have noted before, if you care about government efficiency and making it work better for the people, there are few offices better than the (former) USDS and @team18f.bsky.social.

We were always thrilled to work with them and we know the whole #AltGov family sends their love. 💕
18F: We are dedicated to the American public and we're not done yet
For over 11 years, 18F has been proudly serving the American people to make government technology work better. We are non-partisan civil servants. 18F has worked on hundreds of projects, all designed ...

I believe Musk and DOGE disbanded 18F because we stood in the way of their "procurement capture" operation. We get the government *out* of wasteful contracts. Musk wants that money back for himself.

"It’s devastating for us—and for anyone who is worried about getting Alzheimer’s, or has already gotten Alzheimer’s, and is hoping there will be better treatments in the future. It’s a huge blow.”
Scoop --> Trump-Musk cuts just resulted in the firing of numerous top researchers at NIH's center for combating Alzheimer's, sources tell me. They predict big setbacks to fighting dementias.

This cause was once championed by *Republicans.*

Oops: Trump-Musk Cuts Just Wrecked an NIH Org Championed by GOPers
Republicans once lavished praise on an NIH center that deals with Alzheimer’s. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are hobbling it. What will they say now?

Two weeks ago we wrote about why things had been relatively quiet from science activists

Things are changing — two separate protests are being planned, one by @nihfellowsunited.bsky.social and one by @standupforscience.bsky.social

Young researchers mobilize to protest Trump administration’s science policies

Today, along with 2,000 other NIH employees, I had to clear out my office 😭

It was truly the honor of my life to work with such incredibly passionate people focused on improving human health. I’ve never experienced a more positive culture where *everyone* cared about their job and serving others.

Nuclear safety at risk as Trump fires hundreds.

The NNSA, responsible for securing nuclear weapons, is now critically understaffed. Experts warn of a “national security crisis.” Can we afford to play politics with America’s most dangerous stockpile?

John is right. IF you have the stomach for it, push back against the ignorance and anti-science sentiment on Twitter. I can do it in small doses only, but I make the most of my time there by amplifying sane voices, posting facts and links, and rebutting the misinformation from some big accounts.
Hey all, I know it’s a sewer, but the main action and fight on the NIH is over on Twitter. We could use your voice. I’ve already been contacted by reporters based on posts over there, it’s your best chance to be heard.

Well the award for most cowardly, boot-lickingest academic society has squarely gone to the American Society of Microbiology, who has taken down features of various non-white scientists. Absolutely pathetic behavior. Those articles are now coming up as “under review”. Truly sickening cowardice here.
