spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Good morning. I woke up at 7AM and have had a cup and a half of coffee already.

A lot of people outside Minneapolis probably are wondering what's going. What's happened to the "Midwest Mamdani"?

And a lot of people who just learned about us this year are probably confused. It's okay!

Bureaucrats may respond to illegitimate regime actions via a array of non-exclusive choices: exit, voice, loyalty and sabotage. Voice includes leaking. If the punishment for leaking abt illegal/immoral behavior is greater than the punishment for the behavior, expect less leaking & more bad behavior

It sure is one thing to be part of a sea of thousands of people, but to be loud and visible with a handful of other people
on a rural Main Street in Indiana takes fucking COURAGE. I’m so proud of my hometown.
We won't make the national news bc our crowds were smaller & the photos aren't as impressive to ppl who aren't from here, but I rly hope that ppl in big cities understand that small cities and towns all over showed out today, too.

Some had their largest protests in living memory. Ppl are pissed.

At the Chicago area ICE detention center in Broadview this morning.

These aren't detention vans—they're vehicles full of Illinois State Police. Local cops are staging for a morning of protest.

Supposedly, demonstrators will be banned from 25th St today. Fence on Beach came down a few days ago.

I hope @dewayneforminneapolis.com doesn't mind me retelling a story he told me when we first met last winter. I kept it to myself because he wasn’t telling it publicly but he mentioned it yesterday. It’s one of the things that’s leading me to rank him first. A hope-its-ok-and-I-get-right 🧵:
Yesterday, I hosted an incredible event, "Ward 8 for a New Mayor." We talked about why we need a new mayor and then @jazzformayor.bsky.social , @omarfatehmn.com , and @dewayneforminneapolis.com laid out why they should be our next mayor. I came away excited about all of them and will rank all three!

Reminder that MAHA is an explicitly socially Darwinian, supremacist, eugenics movement that is building the infrastructure for social murder at scale under the mantle of “public health”

MAHA is explicitly inverting public health into eugenics and preventable mass death.

Vile. Absolutely vile.
My god.

Would be great to get primary prevention into high gear, if we could only figure out how to adequately staff, fund, and sustain public health in these times. These deaths are inevitable if we continue to gut governmental public health.
The projected rise in global cancer deaths
1990 —5.9 million
2023—10.4 million
2050—18.8 million
is yet another reason we need to get primary prevention into high gear, which is now possible but not getting done

white cis men blocking people of color and other members of vulnerable communities because their risk factor is a lot different than ours is peak white nonsense.

It's also how I know they don't give a shit about us.
