Right message; and a clear repudiation of the "squalid chapter" rhetoric in the Immigration White Paper.
But needs to be backed up with policy; making it more difficult for long-term residents (both workers and refugees) to get settlement and citizenship is bad for both economy and social cohesion.

UK politics live – latest updates
Decades-old racism is returning to British politics, and “it makes people feel very scared” Keir Starmer has said, warning that divisive hard-right politics was “tearing our country apart”.
Speaking to GP and TV personality Amir Khan, the prime minister accused Nigel Farage’s Reform UK of overseeing a return of the racist and divisive politics “that frankly I thought we had dealt with decades ago”. Continue reading...

You may have missed this gem yesterday. From which we learn that:
1. Betting shops are really good for the mental health of isolated people.
2. Most drug-takers are not a problem.
3. Kids put tuppence in slot machines in the hope of getting rich.
4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.

Honestly, I did NOT have "punching the air and going HELL YES to Chris Patten" on my bingo card today. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly!
"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.
"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Of course it wouldn't. The UK government would need a spine for that.

We're 16 months into Labour's 5-year term and they haven't materially improved our relationship with the EU yet.
They agreed a few minor things but almost none of those have come to pass yet, and they're still haggling over process and details.
Plus none of it moves the needle on Brexit's damage.

Do you think it is possible they passed something on to the other giving hand jobs?
