This is not good news for German scientific research. The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt appears to be on fire. I live about 10km away and can smell it.

For fun Mrs K-G and I tried #Underberg, the “cult” German herbal liquor from the 1970’s (I use the terms loosely 😀).

I can’t begin to describe how horrible it is 🤮. There is clearly a reason this stuff is sold at the supermarket checkouts with the cheap vodka.😂

As a child of Yorkshire I’m not sure whether to be offended by the poor quality of this AI-generated map or pleased to see Yorkshire taking over England. 😂
Gemini has given up and Yorkshire has taken over the whole of England and Wales. Labels are just in random places now. I salute this version of Yorkshire!

One question for #GenHour. Has anyone started using the new Split-View in the Chrome browser? It’s an easy way to put two tabs side by side within the browser-useful if you are comparing/copying data😀

Obvs - other methods to split-view are available!

Eric Adams, former NYC mayor, launched a memecoin (cryptocurrency) today. He marketed it as an “NYC Token” and used media appearances and his social media to promote it.

Within hours, Adams then drained its liquidity, apparently having scammed investors out of $3.4 million—a move called a rug pull.

Hi #AncestryHour. Been thinking about my wish-list for this year and I’ve boiled it down to three wishes:

1. A decent DNA match for my 2nd cousin, so we can finally identify his grandfather.

2. A male-line Grass who I can test for my very-small Grass DNA Project.

A Fascinating DNA report - Chimerism in action.
A fascinating case report.

The DNA of a female murder victim was genotyped and it turns out that she has been a chimera: a mixture of 46XX/46XY cell lines.

The analysis (STR-based) found:
1. The maternal chromosome was identical between the two cell lines.
