🚨 This is inexplicable news to share. If in Alberta and you want flu and covid shots for NEXT year (2026-2027), you have only until December 15 of THIS year to order them.

This is not incompetence. It’s a deliberate choice to prevent as many people ..

Can you #FindThatLizard

Last weekend, I went to Big Bear with some friends. Although it’s getting to the end of lizard season, I was hoping to get a few #FindThatLizard photos. I knew if nothing else, the western fence lizard Sceloporus occidentalis wouldn’t disappoint me.

The franchise pretty uniformly has a really great attitude of people being into nerd shit but doing it with absolutely no shame or hesitation because they know they’ll be accepted and encouraged by their friends. I’m trying to do that myself but I know it will end with a friend’s improv comedy show

These two beauties hold our record for the kittens that waited the longest for a home -- more than six months. Mainly, I suspect, because they're black & white. But they are SO lovely and look how happy they are now ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had our dinner last night so today is all about making stock from the bones. Forgot to get pictures of the whole feast, but here's our bird on the rotisserie. If you've never tried rotisserie turkey you should, it's delicious!

Do I believe Trump is an authoritarian? Yes. He is competing against democratic constraints at every opportunity. Those constraints are slowing him down but once he breaks down all resistance, he will be a full-throated authoritarian leader, much like Putin.

Why journalists are reluctant to call Trump an authoritarian – and why that matters for democracy
Media framing shapes people’s understanding of the world. A political communication scholar says that journalistic outlets’ failure to call Donald Trump an authoritarian is a problem for democracy.

I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

Every once in a while I tell people from other countries about how the health insurance system works in the US and they are aghast. Yesterday a guy straight up didn’t believe me when I said people can die because of not being able to afford medicine. He was sure I meant in the distant past.

🧵 Fact: #mRNA is a normal part of cells, it acts like an instruction manual to build proteins. mRNA covid #vaccines send cells instructions to build a specific part of the virus. This spike protein can't cause covid but will warn our immune system. mRNA and the protein break down quickly into waste.

Why the CMA Must Break with the AMA
If the CMA follows AMA’s lead, it is only a matter of time before convoy-aligned doctors in Canada are positioned as “experts” inside Ottawa.

Its impossible to overstate the importance of this. As time drags on and the USA falls further into fascism, the US institutions Canada has deferred to and aligned with will become less and less trustworthy. Many are already tools of the MAGA fascist state.

🇨🇦 orgs need to stand on their own.
