Siri: show me why there is no hope for the US….
New poll: In 2024, low-engagement voters went for Trump over Harris by 11 percentage points. But now they disapprove of the way he's handling the presidency by 13. They have moved 25 points against Trump — 2x as large as the shift for high-knowledge voters www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trump-lost...
Trump has lost the voters who weren’t paying attention in 2024
The least-engaged Americans have swung 25 points against him since 2024 — about twice the shift among everyone else. Trump has flattened the engagement gap.

The answer was a dagger through my heart!

Who names their kid after the current SCOTUS decades beforehand?
I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

Siri: show me a rhetorical question.
Why is the DOJ protecting Trump over the victims?
February 3, 2026 at 2:57 PM
In this country, he'll get elected to a 3rd term (if there even is an election) because the Democratic candidate isn't perfect.
In American history, our country has never had a more insidious criminal. In every other modern democratic nation, Trump would be spending the rest of his life in prison.
January 31, 2026 at 3:01 PM
That's surprising: he's certainly had a lot of top 10 hits over the years and you'd think that one of them would have wound up at #1.

I know that it's a fantasy, but if we ever get another president who is at all to the left of Mussolini in my lifetime, then I would love to see an executive order declaring ICE to be domestic terrorists.

(Of course, middle America would view that as going "too far.")
ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."

One thing that I’ve learned from years of interacting with baseball fans (and cladists 😉): a LOT of people cannot grasp probabilism at all. And that’s a big reason why so many people are incapable of critical thinking: they want determinism in a universe where there isn’t any.
“It’s cold outside where I live today, therefore climate change doesn’t exist” is like saying “I had breakfast this morning, therefore hunger doesn’t exist”

If ICE agents can abduct citizens carrying US passports on their person, imagine what they'll do when checking IDs at your local polling place this November. The voter suppression deployment will be unprecedented.

We can actually predict polar vortex events now by monitoring Ted Cruz flight patterns
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was spotted earlier today, January 20, 2026, on a plane heading to Laguna Beach as the state of Texas braces for a rare ice threat and arctic cold front.

If we Yanks were not paying them, then they wouldn't be tariffs.
“Foreign exporters absorbed only 4% of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.

“Rather than acting as a tax on foreign producers, the tariffs functioned as a consumption tax on Americans.”

Realistically, the probability that Trump’s thugs will *not* arrest Walz in the near future has to be really low. (And subsequently supported in a 6:3 SCOTUS ruling.)
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

They did that with the Lost Dispatch, too…
ICE agents fled from the crowd and left behind their CONOPS battle plan for Minneapolis, including agent's names, hotel rooms, phone numbers, boxes of license plates, and tac radio frequencies.

This is the universe these folks have built, one where all that matters is how to convince “moderate” white Americans and nothing else. Nothing about morality, fighting for others, etc.

They frame it as smart, but ironically it’s a lesson in how to constantly lose a messaging battle.
i don't really give a shit if consultants think being anti-ICE is "good messaging" or whatever when people are actively being shot, beat, gassed and jailed.

And very entertaining!
Amongst the many reasons I miss Prince is that, though he was mercurial and flawed in many ways, I have no doubt he would have been fearless and crystal clear in standing up for Minneapolis and its people.
January 15, 2026 at 11:34 PM
Also: many if not most of the cops will support ICE. Another thing that middle America has gotten so wrong is that it was never “a few bad apples.”
To the people out of state who keep saying “why won’t the local cops stop ICE” you need to understand that ICE is overwhelmingly the largest force on the ground in Minneapolis. They outnumber Minneapolis cops four to one. They’re more likely to stop the cops than the other way around
The Star Tribune had an insane graphic about the presence of immigration enforcement in Minneapolis. There are more immigration officers in the metro right now than local police officers.
