AI filmmaking is completely unserious.

You've got people with $30k begging the internet for ideas by next week because they have nothing of their own to say, it's just slop for the sake of slop. Embarrassing state of affairs.

AI is based on an incorrect model of how not only art but thinking works. We don't think something and then work out how to express it; we don't give ourselves prompts. What we do is start writing, making art etc, and that tells us what we are thinking. The art isn't the end, it's the struggle

What’s going on with all these fuckers on discogs buying a record and then just not doing the payment bit? You’d think you’d remember if you’d just bought an LP for £60

We're now living in an age where any "progress" is immediately weaponised.

Can we please go back to trying to cure cancer and stop climate change you fucking fuckwit tech a-holes?
WOW! This aired to 1 billion people in China. A year ago these robots could barely wave a handkerchief, now they can do backflips and kung fu with nunchucks. Physical intelligence is the next frontier. #cdnpoli

Aye. The music I made in the 90s got me through hardship because I felt like I’d captured a moment of my thoughts, my soul, that would essentially last forever. And I can listen back to it now with a certain pride. I’d have got none of that from typing a prompt
IMHO, we’re giving too much hype to Suno and similar tools. People who genuinely want to make music, who love playing instruments, singing, or composing, aren’t going to rely on Suno.

I spent much of my 20s in a low-paid warehouse job, earning so little I drank gallons of tap water to fill my stomach because I couldn’t afford food. I still had music setup of gear I’d spent years saving for. It was about passion & commitment. An escape from working sometimes 70+ hours a week…
What do we think about the assertion in this meme? I know, we think it's asinine, but I'm looking for specific arguments as to why it's asinine.

Duvall had read the script and thought it was a pointless cashgrab, so declined. It would undoubtedly have been a better film with his presence….but still a massively underwhelming conclusion to a great saga
Greatest sin of the Godfather trilogy was not returning Rob's Tom Hagen in part 3, a considerably weaker film for it.
I watched Godfather II on Saturday night, his rendition of Tom Hagen was pitch perfect, RIP

I’m 50 and don’t know what that scene is referencing because I’ve actively avoided ever watching Scary Movie 2. It’s the end of civilisation, I tell you
Saw an Instagram reel that said “there’s a whole generation who don’t know what the scary movie 2 basketball scene is referencing” and is there a more withering critique of nostalgia culture than the idea young people are losing out not getting a throwaway joke in the sequel to the worst movie ever?
