🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.

So it’s going to be an absolute mess but don’t blame us it’s the law you know! Except the EHRC wouldn’t know the laws if they hit them in the face. Let alone the HRA, the ECHR, the Council of Europe protocols, regulations and conventions or UN treaties all of which it is mandated to uphold.

So proud to be representing these courageous patients in their first-in-the-country lawsuit against a medical system for stopping gender affirming care for those under 19.
Just in: WLP, Berger Montague, and law professor David S. Cohen filed a complaint against UPMC Children’s Hospital for unlawfully denying gender-affirming care to transgender patients under 19.

If you’re comfortable with a man calling for members of the public to assault trans people in bathrooms (which in practice disproportionately endangers cis women who are tall, large or gender nonconforming) then you can get on the list of people who actually don’t give a sh*t about women’s safety.

I took a few mental health hours out (to cook and pickle, my pick-me-up of choice) and so of course I decided to listen to this. The parallels between the speech and actions of Powell and the speech and actions of Jenrick and Farage (and their impact, particularly on minorities) are stark.
📣 New episode out 📣 @dorianlynskey.bsky.social and @iandunt.bsky.social discuss Enoch Powell’s so-called “Rivers of Blood” speech, the explosive political speech that brought far-right ideas into the British mainstream.

It's three years this week since the UK media reported that 1000 families were going to sue the Tavistock (Gender Identity Clinic) for medical mispractice. There wasn't one "family", let alone 1000. It was clear, at the time, that it was bullshit propaganda, and even clearer now. 1/

If you want a chance to win reply to this with "trans rights" or a photo of a cute animal. Will draw from replies tomorrow eve.
I will be asking to remove 'Queer As Folklore' from the long list for the Polari Prize 2025.

The BBC crows about balance, then ignores 100,000 people marching for trans rights whilst platforming the same handful of transphobes over and over again. This is not journalism, it’s propaganda for profit.

Read Helen’s article expanding on these thoughts here ⬇️
🏳‍⚧ 100,000 people marched at London Trans+ Pride yesterday - but the BBC, Times, Telegraph & Daily Mail ignored it completely.

These outlets publish dozens of anti-trans stories a week. But when trans people show joy, pride, and solidarity?

🦗 Silence.

Reasons to follow later.
In mindblowing news, the EHRC's landlord, it seems at the EHRC's behest, is trying to injunct protestors from protesting outside the EHRC's offices.

We will be in Court today making an emergency attempt to resist the injunction. www.crowdjustice.com/case/protect...

Is this what’s happened to me on a very small and personal scale?

Woman’s Hour asked me on to talk with Emma Barnett after Alice’s inquest. Emma is GC so I said I’d only do the interview with another presenter. They never got back to me.

Now they won’t have me on to talk about Her Name Is Alice.
It's not even the hypocrisy that's the most irritating thing; it's the smug superiority by Radio 4 about its standards.

The truth is, if you punch up the BBC won't stand for it but if you punch down, with power, it's fine.

It never tells *powerful* people what they don't want to hear.

I can't see an EHRC with one aim budging, but I do see an out for Labour. If we can delay the process & Falkner's replaced 31st Nov by a non GC motivated Chair, lawful guidelines can be put forward allowing Labour to say to the media they fear they've got to listen to EHRC guidelines put before them
Not easy to see what the EHRC do from here.

If they continue with their consultation on the basis of what seems to us (quite clearly) to be a flawed understanding of the law they risk the whole thing being a nullity. /1
