I was at the signing of this executive order in 2023. Even though it wasn't perfect (and there's really only so much an EO can do), it was a relief to see some federal action on safety and security in AI and also inspiring to be in the room with so many people who care about AI ethics. 😥

Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states:
“'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell."
Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

It’s wild to me that in a world where Superhero movies are literally the only thing that gets funded y’all still managed to give the power to a Lex Luthor and not, say, a Bruce Wayne or a Tony Stark.
