Spot the difference between the world's economy and the actions of national or regional politicians. This was foretold many years ago in the car sector. At the most macro of levels, trade is continuing despite efforts at restraint.

One in 10 Cars Sold in Europe Is Now Made by a Chinese Brand
Chinese automakers built nearly one in 10 passenger cars sold in Europe last month, a record share that caps a year of rapid growth led by brisk sales of hybrid and battery-powered vehicles.

Well that finishes any idea of the EU as a serious player in the emerging world order.
European Parliament narrowly votes to request an ECJ opinion on EU-Mercosur, thereby potentially delaying ratification for 2 years.

And you thought this thing was done...

The Trump disbelief that the Norwegian govt doesn't control the Nobel process is deeply indicative of his thinking. He can't conceive that an institution could (or should) be genuinely independent of coercion or political power. That's the change he represents.
Trump: "I should have gotten the Nobel prize for each war...I saved millions and millions of people...and don't let anyone tell you that Norway doesn't control the shots. It's in Norway. Norway controls the shots. It's a joke. They've lost such prestige.“

These so-called "patriotic" 🇬🇧newspapers who brought you Brexit were never really patriotic at all.

They are driven by a disdain for Britain's European neighbours, and a fawning obsession with America.

They do not really want 🇬🇧 to be sovereign. They're content being a 🇺🇸vassal.

There are lots of reasons the EU is not a geopolitical player, and here are just two.
Hungary and Czech Republic choose not to back Denmark. I hope they're not not looking for anyone to back them in in future. EU doesn't have the mechanisms but should suspend these two states from EU, meanwhile carry on dealing with Trump's absurd megolamania without them.
💥Viktor Orbán’s foreign minister Péter Szijjártó says Hungary is BLOCKING a joint EU statement on Greenland.

After years acting as a Trojan horse for Russia and China, Budapest now does the same for Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Orbán ally Andrej Babiš’s Czech government also refuses to back Denmark...

Esta segunda volta, entre Seguro e Ventura, vai separar definitivamente o trigo do joio.
A linha que divide a direita democrática da direita populista, racista e saudosista da ditadura, linha que marca o limite da decência, tornar-se-á finalmente nítida.

Explain to me how this would happen.

The fucking mechanics of it. Explain them to me.

Russia or China, storming the beaches of an EU and NATO member state terrotiry which includes a fucking US military base on it in a take and hold maneuver a bazillion miles from their nearest supply lines?

1926: the BBC decided women should not be radio announcers:

"The...physical strain...is greater than could be borne by the average woman", & "there is something incongruous in a woman announcing weighty news bulletins or...football results".

The decision was rapidly reversed after public derision.

This is all 🇪🇺 could muster as a response to the 🇺🇸invasion of🇻🇪. Two days later. Not one word of criticism of the violation of international law.

You can see why Pedro Sanchez, the only EU leader willing to criticise 🇺🇸, has instead had to join Latin American leaders in a different joint statement.

Maduro is a brutal and oppressive dictator of Venezuela.

Trump has no legitimate legal basis for military action against Venezuela under United States or international law.

Both of those facts are simultaneously true.

The real story today is both Reform/Farage and the Conservatives/Badenoch talking today about radically changing the BBC

This is the real agenda
