You can also just ignore the day. It’s not illegal. Nobody has to know you’re a veteran.
This goes for you lefty vets who want to be tortured souls today too. If you’ve got the day off,,, take the kids to breakfast. Attend a community event, volunteer a few hours if that assuages your conscience.

When Granny went home to Scotland with Mum (my foster mom), she hadn’t had a chance to close the coin purse before the bus took off. So the bus LURCHES forward and the contents of the coin purse fall down her shirt. After getting off the bus she had to hop to have the coins fall out.

This is the apple dumpling recipe if anyone wants to make them. Super easy to make! Although coring the apples was a challenge for me. I should invest in a doodad to make it easier.

Still thinking about the coworker I had who was the senior E5. She married her supervisor and ended up making E6 like him, but decided to get out and adopt/bring his child from overseas. I hope they’re well.

I was born in the 1950s, when it was called Armistice Day. I remember Uncle Ray still suffering the effects of his time on a battleship in the Pacific a decade earlier and Granny telling me about life during the Pandemic & Great Depression. We didn't have Google, we had stories told from experience.

Or they do meet you and just mug ya. Carjacking probably not, because you can trace a car. Mugging? Lol the cops back home would say its your own fault. My stepdad got mugged in front of me by a guy asking for money for the baby’s milk.
"How does a scam for a can of baby formula work". In several ways. You volunteer to buy it for them but they can't meet you. Could you just Venmo the money? The can they bought at the store was spoiled, they need another can. They still won't go to the pantry or sign up for WIC. The baby is hungry.
I think I've been scammed too many times by people I care about to get mad when churches and other charities use basic tactics to try and filter out scams.
