I will not be dooming, even unto a fault perhaps, but this too

we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender
You cannot overstate the significance of this repeal. I also think it's wrong to say the 'free market' and cheap renewables pick up all of the lost momentum. Many good people will be fighting this and hopefully they have some wins

The US will repeal the endangerment finding, the legal framework that underpins the government's power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.

Can I just say, I'm really loving Ghost. It is such a good platform. Anyone still using Substack should consider moving across. It is pay to play, and it's a different way of working, but the functionality is great and it's so much nicer to use.

Also, just FYI, The Hundred Line is currently the cheapest it has been so far.

Not a HUGE discount, but it is EASILY worth $40 if you enjoy visual novels as a *medium* at all. The prologue alone (30-40 hours!!!) is probably worth the price of admission, and after that point it goes completely ham.

I will forever cherish this footage of Jun Senoue wearing a My Chemical Romance t-shirt
In August of 2020, Jun Senoue participated in a charity performance of the My Hero Academia song "You Say Run", led by Caleb Hyles. During this, each performer was given a "quirk".

Jun Senoue's quirk is "Live & Learn", a reference to the main theme of Sonic Adventure 2.

Great new @rodcampbell.bsky.social post here interviewing an anti-coal-mine activist. Korea's attempts to open up a range of new coal mines in Aus were met by strong opposition - and that flows directly through to domestic decisions to phase out coal-fired power in SK. Activism works!

Go read:
“The global impact of activism on the Central Coast was recently highlighted by South Korea’s decision to phase out coal use by 2040. This would likely have been impossible had Korean-owned mines . . . not been stopped by strong community opposition."

Appreciation post for Dr G, who seems to be carrying most of the weight of "yo, maybe we should still try to reduce fossil fuels" and "yo, maybe it's urgent to do that" on her back
Just a few things I'd like to say about this @hausfath.bsky.social piece.

The first is that every 10th of a degree of heating over 2C raises risks for multiple irreversible catastrophes MORE than every 10th of a degree of heating under 2C.

That's why the 2C target exists. It's not random.

Even dirt cheap clean energy is not a climate solution unless we ALSO phase out fossil fuels.
Of course, we should make clean energy cheap! But the policies on the table in the US that supposedly would do that all enable the easier build out of more fossil fuel infrastructure, which is why the American Petroleum Institute and the Koch network are lobbying for them.
