just building this awful camp system is a crime against humanity imo
The proposed centers are so large that some could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once, according to a DHS spreadsheet of more than 20 potential locations that was verified by NBC News. The largest federal prison in the U.S., for example, has roughly 4,000 inmates.
ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

Is craftivism performative? Yes. That's the point. Resistance includes a public demonstration of opposition at accessible events with a low barrier to entry.

The red resistance hat pattern has raised $300k for the people of Minnesota. That's not effective?
Angela, the pussy hats weren't very effective. Knitting is cool, especially if you put resistance messages in it, but it's not resistance. It's performative. It's only actually effective if you're a spy and putting messages in or something. Otherwise it's a hobby, and the pussy hats were just silly.

Bad Bunny isn't an immigrant.

This shit is cooked through. 150 years of being a newspaper and now you're a 4chan comment thread.
The Super Bowl halftime show, with Bad Bunny showcasing Latin music before a global television audience expected to top 100 million, will illustrate the nation’s immigration divide whether or not the reggaeton star delivers an explicit political message.
The enthusiasm — and scorn — surrounding Bad Bunny’s star turn at the Super Bowl

I've come around to Jason Goff's view that sometimes ppl really need a physical reminder that "no, you actually can't say whatever you want whenever you want with no consequences"

does that make it fuzzy & ill defined? sadly yes. but....sometimes, you just know. seems like this is a time.

/2 Bad Bunny stands for “immigration” because he’s not white. His existence within the United States — and particularly his broad popularity and great success — are an affront to Trumpian white nationalist values. That’s the WaPo message, brought to you with Jeff Bezos’ Amazon smile.

Everyone is shitting on the Post for implying that Bad Bunny, from Puerto Rico, is a “immigrant,” not an American citizen. But WaPo is actually being honest about the Trumpist immigration agenda, for which dutifully if dully supports. The Trumpist agenda is white nationalist.

i grew up in rural IL. Just outside of our small town (2k ppl) but still in the country.

taking a BB gun while trekking to a secluded place to read makes 100% sense to say, 11-15 yo me. lol

My friend's dad was a HUGE Bob Dylan fan.

I'd seen Dylan perform at Clinton's inauguration earlier that year. You couldn't convince me he was singing words in any language.

I always side-eyed my friend's dad after that point.
February 8, 2026 at 2:24 AM
Bad Bunny doing the halftime show has had many ppl whining "but i won't know what he's saying."

I remember my best friend's dad in about 1993 saying that about music we liked. It was pretty mainstream and benign, my death metal tastes didn't develop until later.
February 8, 2026 at 2:24 AM
well it's answer anger. so...fitting

(also, just have to say I was DYING at your earlier story of taking a bb gun while xcountry skiing cause it looked cool and your chicago children being appalled. its hilarious because they just have no way to understand. but we know. we know. )

i'm intrigued by Bad Bunny. he's famous AF for a reason so I want to see him in action.
I hear ppl say "but I won't know what he's saying!"
Me, a death metal fan: So?
And to them, a Pearl Jam Fan "aren't you used to that?" (insert Bob Dylan if you like)
Should be a fun show!
