some of the key findings: biking in Cambridge has increased by 250% between 2004 and 2024, with a 283% increase in the number of kids biking between 2014 and 2024. But the bike network has only increased 128% in size.

This cannot be something a civilian law enforcement agent is allowed to wear in the US — and an agency that has a culture that tolerates this cannot be saved.
Fucking surreal that people dressed like this and carrying assault rifles are permitted to kidnap people off our streets

The fact that the only group in the world they deem worthy of asylum are white South Africans should be a pretty big clue.
BREAKING: A federal judge has EXTENDED Haiti TPS!

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes’ order read it was “substantially likely” that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem preordained her termination decision because of “hostility to nonwhite immigrants.”

DHS agents in Minnesota drove in front of a moving car

They pulled their guns as they stepped onto the road

And threatened a woman who was legally filming them

I can’t stand Rand Paul but I’ll give him a at least a bit of credit for being pretty consistent about calling out when his own side are doing things that disagree with his principles.
Rand Paul: "After seeing this, if you call this a good shooting you aren't watching the video. This was a real tragedy and a mistake. The man had been disarmed and then shot 10 times ... if we say things that are obviously not true, the situation is going to get worse."

“In theater”

Fuck these assholes treating it like a war against their own citizens.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

It's a stupid system, but it's the one we have.

If you want to do something productive, then advocate for electoral reform in your state, like the ranked choice voting that Maine and Alaska have.

Under our current system, vote Blue no matter who.
IF you ever get to vote again, vote purely Democrat. Only.

It's a two-party system. Either you vote for a Democrat, or you help the current Trump regime. Not voting helps Trump. Voting for a third party - any third party - is a wasted vote that helps Trump.

Vote only for Democrats, no excuses.

Complete Streets redesign of Worcester's Newton sq / Highland st meeting on Feb 11th 6pm-8pm at Doherty High.

That section really needs a redesign and Complete streets principles are exactly what should be used.

Head over to support!

Yeah, so this is one reason why it was so important to build housing in Blue states.

And we've failed.

The best time for zoning reform was 10 years ago, the second best time is now.

Republicans have no compunction about ending or defunding federal departments they don’t like (even illegally), like USAID, CFPB, Education etc.

We should be just as ruthless about this hideous bloated unaccountable secret police.
"ICE as it exists today is incompatible with democratic values and human dignity, and it must be abolished and replaced with a humane, accountable immigration system. In Worcester, public safety must mean trust, dignity, and freedom from fear" -Worcester City Councilor Khrystian King

Nonviolence is so so critical.

Just film them. As we’ve seen, the camera is an incredibly potent weapon.
I'm sure a few ICE agents suspect this already, but it seems very clear that DJT, Miller & Bovino WANT an ICE agent to get killed. They need their own martyr. There is a reason they are putting them in increasingly volatile situations.
January 27, 2026 at 12:26 PM
They're going to deploy ICE to voting locations in November aren't they?

They'll say it's to prevent non citizens from voting but they'll do what they do now which is to intercept brown people and if they can't immediately prove they're a citizen they'll be swept away and denied their vote.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

We have like five videos from different angles showing exactly what happened and it's still treated like a disputed fact. There will never be a level of proof that would prevent Republicans from lying about it and the press treating it as disputed. It's like the Chapelle R Kelly juror sketch.
The political press very clearly understands “truth” as a social agreement, a compromise position between everyone important enough to have an opinion. It did not reflect on how this would allow dedicated liars to go all-in on lies again and again and dramatically shift the position.
my emerging theory is that the political press literally does not believe in objective reality in any meaningful sense. there is only what A says and what B says and how that affects the horse race

From the author of a book on Fascism:

(This book:

)
I think the main sticking points a couple of years ago were the absence of territorial ambitions, a Gestapo-like police force and mass purges of government institutions. Well here we are
January 25, 2026 at 7:56 PM
Yes, it’s here. Not hyperbole.
"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," Jonathan Rauch argues. "'Fascist' best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse."
Yes, It’s Fascism
Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

ICE uses extrajudicial violence and intimidation for political ends. It's unconstrained by the law, unaccountable to the public. Its crimes are endorsed at the highest levels. What does this tell us? That it's the force of paramilitary thugs all fascist movements & governments use. It is Trump’s SS.
