Y’all, we secured an attorney finally. God. Y’all would not believe how UGLY it is out here right now in Landlord-Tenant Law.

That said, we need $2500 as opposing counsel has dragged this out and has been trying to get the court to target us for not being able to secure counsel “fast enough”.

Naming the white conservative/fascist/supremacist definition of "efficiency."

The thing they want efficient is not machines, nor systems.

The thing they want efficient is us. Human beings. They want to get more from us and they want to pay less.

Our Purpose Isn't Efficiency
Society is not a corporation and we are not its employees. Moving the sick American spirit toward health by abandoning fool notions and damned lies.

Getting back to the fundamentals. Been revisiting all my childhood comics—focusing on my favorite characters, the X-Men and their struggle for civil rights.

Thing is, Magneto has always been right when it comes to dispensing with Nazis and fascism.

A lot of people seem to be under the belief that the post-war factory jobs their parents and grandparents had were good jobs because they were masculine and tough instead of, say, protected by a union under a progressive tax rate and a massive surplus

I've been to Dilley, the "family residential center" I think he's referring to.

It's a jail. They're surrounded by barbed wire fences and armed guards. It's a jail.
Tom Homan spoke to local news about the children in his own town abducted by ICE: “First of all, the family is not in a jail. They’re in a family residential center, it’s an open air campus.”

Oh, ok.

It is absolutely an escalation and scary that the US is not just willing but eager to do this to white people now.

It is also true that this is not new but par for the course for Black and Brown people dealing w the US government.

A reminder that this has been happening to certain subsets of people for a very, very long time. It has *always* been horrifying and evil.

Thank goodness she got let go.

There are thousands who have been in cages for months, years, the rest of their cut short lives. Children, adults, elders.

Graphic artist Rebecca Burke was on the trip of a lifetime. But as she tried to leave the US she was stopped, interrogated and branded an illegal alien by ICE. Now back home, she tells others thinking of going to Trump’s America: don’t do it Just before the graphic artist Rebecca Burke left Seattle to travel to Vancouver, Canada, on 26 February, she posted an image of a rough comic to Instagram. “One part of travelling that I love is seeing glimpses of other lives,” read the bubble in the first panel, above sketches of cosy homes: crossword puzzle books, house plants, a lit candle, a steaming kettle on a gas stove. Burke had seen plenty of glimpses of other lives over the six weeks she had been backpacking in the US. She had been travelling on her own, staying on homestays free of charge in exchange for doing household chores, drawing as she went. For Burke, 28, it was absolute freedom. Within hours of posting that drawing, Burke got to see a much darker side of life in America, and far more than a glimpse. When she tried to cross into Canada, Canadian border officials told her that her living arrangements meant she should be travelling on a work visa, not a tourist one. They sent her back to the US, where American officials classed her as an illegal alien. She was shackled and transported to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) detention centre, where she was locked up for 19 days – even though she had money to pay for a flight home, and was desperate to leave the US. Police are prepared for some protests more than others.
I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”
I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff
