I've never before been at a club night that played The Devil Went Down to Georgia and 5678 back to back, and I'm sure I never will again. Experiences to be treasured

I really hope people advocating to ban kids from SM read this. Some kids are isolated by disabilities or circumstances. Furthermore, some kids grow up in abusive households. “Ideally, a child’s exposure to online worlds should be moderated by their parents” isn’t a reassuring sentiment for everyone

Striking numbers which demonstrate, in spades, how tiny is the popular support for the culture of hate that Britain's institutions seem determined to impose on a kind and accepting majority.

(Expect the BBC to ignore it or qualify it to oblivion.)

Loving that the key reason James lost this game is that he couldn't stop interrupting people. Jade never thought he was a traitor, she just voted against him because she was sick of being interrupted all the time #TheTraitors

Honestly just the words 'cyber security consultant' was enough for me

"why Jade? Defend yourself!"

But in putting in place what's needed for it to be a success (i.e. guaranteeing you can get the popular acts from this year's contest), you're potentially shooting the actual contest in the foot.

Anyway, this comes from a grump who was almost certainly never going to go to this tour anyway.
January 15, 2026 at 7:22 PM
On the surface, the tour actually sounds like it might be a good idea - it's capitalising in high fan interest in the artist, among a growing demographic with disposable income who enjoy going to concerts (as seen in several acts' successful tours post-contest).
January 15, 2026 at 7:22 PM
We already know Olly pulled out of Eurovision last year because it clashed with his own, more lucrative tour. And that was only for a two-week commitment - imagine if he'd been confronted with a two-month commitment.
January 15, 2026 at 7:22 PM
You're essentially asking them to block two months out of their calendars, without any guarantee of work for most of that period (since only ten will be chosen for the tour). I can't think of any freelancer who'd commit to a two-month 'job' for which they might only be given work for two weeks of it
January 15, 2026 at 7:22 PM
They're committing to two months (early May to early July) where they can't schedule any other work - concerts, live appearances etc. - and that's without any guarantee they'll actually be chosen to do the tour.
January 15, 2026 at 7:22 PM
Artists participating in this year's Eurovision Song Contest will be contractually required to go on the Eurovision tour, if selected for it (ten of them will be). Which sounds like an excellent way of discouraging any artist with a successful career from participating in the contest.

I am once again reminding you all that the UK government introduced an Online Safety Act that is effectively a porn ban on most adult porn websites, but is dithering over banning a website that is actually creating child porn.

This is a brilliant summary of the situation in the UK, but it could apply almost any place the government is promising to "crack down on immigration."

The folks at More In Common found 2/3 of Brits are WRONG about immigration…

But are we really? Or do we just mean 2 different things when we talk about immigration?

Really looking forward to your lists. I bought both Jett Holden and Katie Pruitt's albums on vinyl on your say-so last year

Folks, I am in need of recommendations - I want to buy my daughter a bass guitar for Xmas. Have about £200 to spend, is there any chance of getting anything decent for this or should I be saving up some more? And will she need a separate bass amp rather than the guitar amp she currently has? 🙏
