A church group in my city is building a housing complex and it’s called Adonai homes. This has been bugging me, but I don’t know a lot about Christianity so maybe they use this term also? But even so, isn’t it strange to name a housing complex G-d?

Yes. It’s very strange and even stranger to call them “name that someone else calls God instead of the Tetragrammaton” since that word doesn’t even literally mean God, it’s a honorific placeholder for the name of God that we don’t say. But none of it makes any sense if it’s not your language.
