It's a real indictment of the horrendous state of NZ media that this actual data gets essentially no coverage.

Meanwhile I can't even count the number of "failing cafe owner blames cycleways for his poor business performance" stories...

Dude your plan is not complicated. People understand your plan. They also understand it hasn’t worked because, stay with me here, it was a bad plan. If we’re talking about understanding here I don’t think ‘people’ are the ones suffering from a lack of it.

These articles always talk about the billions of dollars of gold - but that is effectively the money that is going overseas, leaving kiwis with pennies in the dollar.

In 2024/2025 the NZ Govt received a total of $143 million from all mining, all sources.

Uncooperative, failing to comply with conditions, further allegations against him, yet he still gets name suppression.
Why would his name being public prevent a fair trial?

Also worth noting that this survey coheres closely with the last few years of NZTA walking-and-cycling surveys. There is majority support for cycling everywhere – and for investing in bike infrastructure.

Post-war period fascinates me - we built *loads* of infra and houses but public debt levels fell. There must be things we can take from that era to inform what we do next.
Also fascinates me that the 1980 to 2008 period is considered a success - we maxed out our private debt, and what did we build?

This data shows there is no plan to deliver growth. The government is looking at more cuts at the next Budget. We have record numbers of Kiwis on benefits. Its time for a different economic approach - before working people and their families face another year of drift and decline

Closing after 6 months & 200 cones removed, costing Kiwis ~$750 per cone (and they gutted Worksafe - putting real lives at risk!)
