STOP conceding that Trump can legitimately expand grab by deploying baseless claims of “emergency.”

There was NO EMERGENCY to justify tariffs.
There was NO “INVASION” to justify this migrant crackdown.
And there is NO “EMERGENCY” that justifies military takeover of local law enforcement in D.C.

Today, Bhattacharya sent a document entitled

"NIH Priorities and Internal Review of Intramural and Extramural Programs"

to Institute and Center Directors and other leaders.

I am trying to get a clean copy.

These "Priorities" will likely be "Agency Priorities" for grant funding and termination.

And so it begins... NIAID has issued 20 R01s with 4 year budgets (i.e. Multi-year funded) since 7/7/25. These are almost unheard of in the past.
In order to understand and communicate about the implications of this multi-year funding scheme, I put together a simple computer simulation.

I know I'm not the first person or even the millionth person to point this out; it's not even the first time *I* have said it, but this is what actual First Amendment violations look like and the fact that none of the supposed free speech warriors are saying anything about it tells us everything.

Always loved the people who are like, "But my ancestors came here the legal way!" and by that they mean they arrived via ratship to an island, a man asked them their name, they were like, "Uh, Jeff... Smith?" another guy said "sure?" and then they became permanent residents of the United States.
Bit rich complaining about New York being taken over by immigrants when there's a big fucking statue in the harbour that invites everyone to come live there.

Should someone tell them that we LITERALLY eradicated smallpox from humanity because we identified the root cause?

The root cause is the Variola virus.

Implementation of Schedule F

This is what a lot of us have been worried about.

This allows for many civil service positions to replaced with political appointees. This could include NIH institute directors and even POs.

BUT THERE IS A COMMENT PERIOD...

NIH scientists have a cancer breakthrough. Layoffs are delaying it.
A big step forward in cancer therapy has been slowed by layoffs and new restrictions at the National Institutes of Health, where it was developed.

Democrats built their entire party structure on polite deference, seniority, and chasing bipartisanship—as opposed to elevating the most talented and passionate politicians.

...Leaving too many pale, stale (and, frankly, male) lawmakers in prominent positions.
Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

What Republicans are pushing here is not a continuing resolution. In this case, C-R stands for Complete Resignation.

Republicans are ceding more discretion to two billionaires to decide what does and does not, get funded in their states.

It is a power grab CR. I will vote NO.
