I used to work in the financial industry and I cannot stress how important it is for the CFPB to exist. You wouldn't believe how many scummy banks and brokers there are out there. I once audited a dude that was scamming TEACHERS out of their tax-deferred retirement accounts for his own profit.
Vought is giving big banks and giant corporations the green light to scam families.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has returned over $21 billion to families cheated by Wall Street. Republicans have failed to gut it in Congress and in the courts. They will fail again.

This is awful. The Archivist position is non-partisan and Colleen ran the agency in that manner. Presidents have never removed the archivist simply because the admin changed, and the Archives will be worse off now that they will.

I keep seeing folks understandably point out that there are Democratic lawmakers who are scared to speak out for fear of retribution. I'm sympathetic to that. But also: no reasonable adult would begrudge a lawmaker for giving up their seat for someone who's willing to speak up. That's their job.

After being a renter my whole life, I closed on a house two weeks ago. Only property owners have a real voice in Texas, and as a childless, single woman, this is my best defense.
This won't hurt me immediately; I am very fortunate. And I'm starting a veggie garden soon.

Not really interested in re-litigating reality, but it's worth emphasizing COVID is an active pandemic. ~20% of infections result in long covid. Currently, about 200k people in the U.S. are infected per day. Vax/booster(s) don't stop transmission, N95s do.
