The latest thing I was working on is this witchtober turned *something else* short story, and the original prompt was ethereal. I didn’t even mean for the word to make it into the story after deciding to use it for other purposes, but alas it snuck in anyway.

No greater honor that making my readers cry, but some of my favorite reviews involve no tears at all.

Hits the ground running and is packed full of found family, action, tension, queer representation, love, conflict and a whole lot of emotion. My heart was racing from page 1 and I was captivated until the very last sentence! I went in with sky high expectations, so far every book by Hawthorne has made me a sobbing mess of emotions. I was almost worried that my high expectations would ruin it. But I was wrong. Once again I had tears streaming down my face at the end of his book. I wouldn't have wanted anything less. First off, there aren't enough stars to give this book. Secondly, there aren't enough words in any language to explain how beautiful this book is. Thirdly, I could fill a lake with how many tears I cried. There is nuance, there is complexity, and ultimately, there is profound and transformative care for each other and the world around them. In a genre permeated with "romantic love is the most important thing" messaging, Isaacs' work is gorgeously interdependent and communal. A graphic captioned Peer Review. The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances. Me: BUT I HAVE A BULLET JOURNAL AND I MEDITATE NOW. Tiny OSHA Me: BOSS, THE FASCISM. #the current horrors 2025 edition.

They are a huge being, large enough to near fill the cover with their imposing girth, and they are a handsome one with all the charisma of the god Dionysus and the quiet personal amusement of the fey. They have grey skin that glitters with the fragmented hues of opals between patterns like a shark that are most apparent in their long ribbon like ear lobes. Their half lidded eyes are black with white irises and look down over a shallow wide nose with condensing humour at the vampire looking for them. They're not exactly a danity creature, at least a plump four times the width of the vampire, and even in the dark they glow from the gills slicing through their cheeks and neck. What's more they are not a modest dresser, in open flowing robes that themselves are transparent, and a silk scarf with jingling celestial jewellery. But still, in the starry night they remain unnoticed and amuse themselves with this fact by gently pushing the telescope that is being utilised to find them.
