Its gonna be darkly hilarious when the only mid aughts webmaster figure that isn't in the Epstein files is fucking lowtax and tom fulp.
"moot is in the epstein files" is the completely true sentence that has finally convinced me this is all an extremely stupid simulation and that we're all being used to power a robot overlord's game gear or something

This also does partly put into context why tech's current coalitions are acting the way the do politically, microsoft/openai/oracle/facebook all are huddling together to keep the ai bubble afloat while positioning for a political bailout. Google and its coalition much less so since they're winning.
This chart is mega-bullish GOOG fwiw

look if Dem politicians need a moderate-sounding thing to say that isn't "abolish ICE and CBP" may I gently suggest they adopt "bring back Immigration and Naturalization Services"

"bring back INS" will MEAN "abolish ICE and CBP" but get you out of saying it if you're a weenie

Yeah anyone who says this weather makes for enjoyable football is lying. Ooooh you like watching dudes slip and throws fall short? BE FOR REAL

Its incredible how bluechecks manage to have the worst posts no matter the site.

Doing critical readings of statements made by people in opposition to this nazi nonsense is both churlish and ivory tower bs.

Really you can't even be surprised or hurt by this, people have the ultimate choice to choose how they identify and align. All you can do is listen note down what cohorts will be first in line for political support and which ones wont. Teachers? Yes. Small Business owners of any kind? No.
Incredible quote here from a Somali small business owner in Minneapolis who voted for Trump. minnesotareformer.com/2026/01/19/a...

This is probably why we're all in more danger now than we've ever been since even the 80s. The utter apathy and rank cowardice is the one situation than can have a large organization lumber into a decision/situation everyone recognizes is utterly terrible.
the general sense is that a lot of officials want someone, anyone to stop trump but no one wants to be the first one to move or have to make any tough, short-term sacrifices for long-term gain

Seeing Microslop and Satya slowly getting bent over a barrel by reality. After they've spent the last 4 years doing everything they can shit on customers, all you can do is smile.

My hot take is that iran and the us should be natural allies, but until I see the army start taking chunks out of the rev guard or the rev guard giving up their grifto patronage networks is probably better off betting the jets win the superbowl next year.
american fp establishment can [REDACTED]. a free and democratic iran is what any free and democratic american should long for.
looking forward to the looks on the faces of the American foreign policy establishment when it sets in that a democratic Iran will very much not be interested in it being 1953-1979 again

Satya Nadella is gonna dropped so fucking when there's even a slight downturn. I have no idea what the corporate soup inside Microslop is to make them think this is a good idea, but shit must be so toxic.
RIP Microsoft Office, 1990-2026, apparently killed by the "Copilot" brand assuming www.office.com is accurate

Truly, the ways and wiles of Microsoft's branding team are beyond human comprehension

I have a hard time coming up with a structural setup for immigration enforcement that will be more resistant to hitlerites joining and making it toxic. Maybe you make the states responsible for providing the enforcement manpower, but you set the director org as an org run like the fed reserve?
it is a rogue agency. the govt is allowed to disband agencies that are dysfunctional. it happens all the time. immigration enforcement is not going away, but that responsibility can be given to other agencies better suited to the task.
I know it's not mainstream conventional wisdom but I think "Abolish ICE" is a perfectly reasonable response to this and you can get the public to buy in. Most people don't want masked murderous thugs roving their streets

Any Canadian nuclear weapons program would spend 3x its budget swapping between a uranium and plutonium bomb for 2 decades before the program gets killed by a new peacenik urbanite.

When in doubt use argon, if that doesn't work use even more argon.
the terracotta warriors are literally painted, by the way, it's why most of them remain in the pits - they lost their color when exposed, and Chinese archaeologists and other scientists have been trying to figure out a way to excavate the rest while keeping the paint intact
Just realized that Emperor Qin Shi Huang's "Terracotta Army" of clay soldiers he kept in a vault in like 200 BC make him the first Warhammer Guy. he got some disposable income and started painting minis. totally get it

I get the NYT and Wash Po not leaking it, but continuing to jerk yourself off about how much of a moral bastion you are for not leaking it is just so gauche. Like good for you buddy, don't give yourself carpal tunnel from stroke it so hard.

It all really does come down to
"Its easy dumbass, just make policy that always achieves it's goals and only its goals". Which would definitely work if we got our policy from the good policy tree, instead of the imperfect fuck ups that are you, I and the taxi driver with opinions.
again, baby samantha absolutely thought that policy worked this way. "social problem? try regulation!" grown up samantha is living in the wreckage nimby regulations made of our cities and has different opinions.
in particular i’m struck by like, how clearly so many people’s understanding of how regulation and law work is “no, you only need to ban the bad stuff that my enemies do, and not the good stuff that my friends do” even when, from a mechanical perspective, these are the same thing

One of the key insights that was critical to modern life was the dispassionate execution/enforcement of business contracts via the state, instead of needing a bunch of scary lads to threaten someone to enforce agreements. Keeping the drug trade from using that means that force rules the day.
a good 40% of the argument for decriminalization is to take the distribution networks out of the hands of the guys who did this. these are not the victims of the drug war. these (alongside law enforcement) are the perpetrators.
